I saw this in Down Beat, I've gotta get this! Love that cover and da copy. 'Tis the season to be jolly? Hardly! The holiday season is really the time for dysfunctional families, useless knickknacks, and expanding waistlines. Why fool yourself with the run-of-the-mill music of the season and its sugar-coated themes of love and understanding? Add a dash of reality to your holiday proceedings while thumbing your nose at the putrid sentimentality with music that cries out "back off and leave me alone!" 1. Christmas Blues 2. Why a duck? Well, I don't know. You try to post there, and you'll find out why-a-duck. When I was driving my Dad home a few weeks ago from a post-op checkup at the VA Hospital, we drove across the Elizabeth viaduct. (here in NJ). He said something about a viaduct and I said "Why a duck?". He responded: "Because it doesn't go over water." Took the wind out of my sails!

Which reminds me, for those of you who aren't single, how does your spouse file their CDs? Does it make ANY sense to you at all? I swear, my wife "liberated" my Jackie Wilson and Hollies CDs because she couldn't find them in my carefully, alphabetical arrangement. I'll never see them again, because now they are filed by her system, which apparently involves phases of the moon and sleeve color... I know what you're describing. One long time female friend also has problems getting the CD back in to it's jewel case and she does, it's probbably not the right one.

Why a duck?

LPs: In bedroom in milk crates, rock in bottom row, jazz & progrock in top row. In the unit that holds my TV are the post 18th century "classical". CDs: rock & prog rock in bookshelves, cd shelves hold Harold Budd, Bill Laswell (he gets one shelf!), Fripp, Eno, Jon Hassell, Bjork, the FAX collection, 1990's ambient and music from Tibet, Asia, SE Asia, Middle East and N. Africa. Miles gets a row on top of my dresser above the Axiom collection, Trane gets a row on top of the book shelves in the hallway with Alice. In the bookshelves in the hallway: first shelf holds Derek Bailey, Anthony Braxton, Capt. Beefheart and Ornette collections, the rest of these shelves hold the 20th Cen. Classical with the bottom shelf full of Zappa. There are four small plastic filling cabs: one is full of Hindustani classical music, one of Jazz, one has the Metheny collection sharing a drawer with S. Indian classical and Asian pop music. The last one is full of various types of experimental and/or microtonal music. There are a few boxes of cds floating around my office/living room/music studio of the: Ralph Towner John Abercrombie Sun Ra Wayne Shorter Bill Frisell Terje Rypdal Tisziji Muñoz Blues and current hard rock listening collections. Near my computer is a lot of STUFF that isn't filed or can't be because I don't have anyplace to it! Uh...yeah...I am single, how'd ya know?

I heard a couple of concerts there: A Dixie Dregs reunion with then new bassist Dave LaRue. A "super group" with Alan Holdsworth, Stanley Clarke, Steve Smith and some keyboard player, I can't remember his name. The Zawanul Syndicate, I think he had Steve Khan on guitar.

You're a riot! I would like to hear Santana do that. I'd like to hear him pull it off. My own personal vision doesn't take a village.

I think he read the print edition. It should show up at the NY Times web site after 12 am EST on Sunday.

I was into these and electric trains, matchbox cars, plastic airplane models.......then came the stamps collection....then I discovered Electric Guitar!

It looks cool, but I have a gig tomorrow night in East Willamsburg, Brooklyn. And I live in NJ....and I would have to go a 1/2 hour out of the way to pick up the soprano player. As I look out my 8th floor window....white out conditions - I can't even see the building across the street. It looks like this gig is postponed! It's also too bad, I was looking forward to this.

Sabrina Omaha? I don't think so. We lived on a corner: Sabrina Axel? Still doesn't work. If only we had lived on Trimmedbush Ave.
