  1. Conn500: Man, I'm glad you know how to drink hot tea properly. Ever since I lived in England, in the very late seventies when I was in my early teens, I've never thought hot tea was complete till a little milk was added. I remember seeing a friend, a couple of years ago, when he made himself a cup of hot tea (he even had some PG Tips imported from England ). He was about to drink the tea with only the tea and a little sugar. I made the comment, "Your not really going to drink that, are you?" He gave me a puzzled look when I mentioned he needed to add some milk to complete the hot tea experience. He replied that coffee required milk but the idea of tea with milk, he said, was disgusting. Hmmm... he'd never been to England. You put things in your tea? Yek! I add nothing but heat.
  2. Great disc. Pharoah sounds more pasionate when he's a hired gun. He rips it up!
  3. Me-yow!
  4. Havn't had a chance to listen yet. I'm buried in marking coursework at present and want to sit and listen to it with full attention rather than in the background. Will report back. I'm fully expecting to be impressed. I'm listening to it now. It's OK. I should try it again at a later date to see if it's a keeper. note: at this point, I'm talking about this Paul Geremia fella, Clementine keeps going on about.

    I've never seen it before.
  8. From the Coltrane list!
  9. Oh, but she is soooooo cute.
  10. Kewl.
  11. Don't say that about Berigan!
  12. Hehe. Yez....the crowd was cheering them on. I guess it was a combination of really wanting ZZ Top and being sick of hearing Smoking in the Boys room too much on the radio.
  13. Yea, but I don't remember any rain. This was probably in June 74.
  14. From Pink Floyd?!? No. NY.
  15. It's a Zapppa joke.
  16. Exactly. NYU is siezing all sorts of property in that area for dorms. It was only a matter of time. My guess is they're waiting for Tower on 4th & Broadway to fold so they can grab that too.
  17. It would make more sense to invest in a pair of Fender Twins.
  18. I saw Mountain in the '80's at the recently closed Bottom Line twice. First gig: amazing. Second gig: awful. It seemed like LW had been doing drugs all day before the show. Yeah, I remember when I saw Mountain, he pretty much fumbled his way through the entire concert. By the time Mississippi Queen happened I think everyone in attendance was rather "lubricated" so it all sounded good by then. I knew the Bottom Line was having financial troubles but I didn't realize that they finally closed. That was another great place to go in NYC. Oh....it was OK. I was standing in line for a show and we had a thunder shower so we gathered under the awning to the entrance. The owner came out and gave us a bunch of crap. Yez, his customers. The interesting fusion gigs died out soon after.....and now they're closed. Venues come and go. The Knitting Factory isn't owned or run by the original folks, CBGBs survives on TShirt sales at Macys. Shrug....
  19. Me too. I really dug Derek Trucks' playing when we saw them live in Lansing. Yeah, he's an amazing slide player. Is he more fluid than Jeff Beck? Well, yeah. For a slide player.
  20. My sister and I really never had that problem because we were never into each others music she liked Donovan and Joan Baez both of whom I thought were pretty pukey and I don't think she cared too much for the Stones and Yardbirds.Only in later years do we have common musical interests. My brother wasn't quite so lucky with me. I loved everything he listened to; he was a guitar player, so I was in prepubescent nirvana rifling through all of his "guitar god" albums. I remember getting blamed quite a bit for every little scratch. I actually think my other brother was sabotaging me. Life's rough being the only girl.

  22. One of them did leave me part of her collection. Got bent when I sold a BB King Best of collection. But I really got into the debut Montrose collection (he played on the E. Winter ...at Night album)
  23. My sister's automaticly blamed me for any noise on an album!
