  1. Have you checked out Finale, by Coda Music? It's probably the most popular and widely used music notation and arranging software. You can arrange scores of any type and alter dynamic markings, articulations and just about everything you can imagine. I don't have any more information for you about it except to say that I've used it and from personal experience you definitely need to know your way around a keyboard WELL! It can be a major bi-otch to use and hot-keying like a mofo saves a BUNCH of time when writing arrangements. MIDI may be hooked up to make it easier when keying in music but it's not required. Check out their website HERE Also check out Sibelius It's similar to Finale and from what I've heard it's a little easier to use. I never have used it myself though. Hope this helps a bit.
  2. Thanks! B)
  3. I recognize Monk of course, who are the other folks?
  4. Man, what a piss poor game last night at the Linc. Birds couldn't pull any kind of offense against the Bucs fast d. No running game whatsoever and besides a few catches from Thrash, no bigs plays. What a disaster. Oh well, here come the Pats!
  5. Picks for tonight's matchup between Eagles and Bucs? I'm gonna have to go w/ the Bucs unfortunately. I think it's gonna be real close, though. The Linc will be out of hand.
  6. That's why I wanted to check here on these sessions. I'm not usually a fan of the "blowing sessions" cuz I've heard a bunch that have fallen short of my expectations, ie too drawn out, rambling, lousy sound, etc. I'll check out some of the above recommendations though.
  7. OK, so I have Blue Train, a good smattering of Trane on Atlantic, and a couple of his Impulse! dates, but what I'm really missing is his work on Prestige, not counting the stuff with Miles. Getting the box is out of the question right now. If I were to pick say, 4 or 5 sessions on Prestige, which ones represent him best and should be my first purchases? Thanks in advance!
  8. Oc.....to.....ber ....so far.........away
  9. This is a toughie cuz I don't have much that's ultra-super tough to find. Due to the announcement of next year's RVG releases I'd say former 'MVP' is 'Ready for Freddie'. Currently I would say my JRVG of 'Demon's Dance' or my copy of 'Here Comes Louis Smith' would be greedily eyed by collectors.
  10. I really like this one.
  11. Not sure if anyone knows it but Tower is having a Blue Note sale through September 22nd. All RVG's $9.99. Certainly doesn't beat the old prices of $8.99 or $7.99 but nice nonetheless.
  12. ...and on top of that we're getting ready to buy a house! You don't really need running water do you?
  13. That's all right, you don't really need those Conns coming out in October. In the meantime, Michael Bolton singing standards??
  14. Oc..to..ber so.......far....away.........!!!!
  15. And you are in for a real treat. I will be picking up A Mode For Joe as Well. My original copy has a few skips on it. FWIW, the Album Cover Book still makes ME drool......a LOT!
  16. It's about time Tower has not been earning the brownie points with me lately. The quality and quantity of the stock at the local Tower stores has been wearing thin.
  17. Same here, but only because I don't have it. I think Search For The New Land is a fine date. How could you not like Mr. Kenyatta? B) I'm really looking forward to the Powell. "The Joker" is a good tune also.
  18. Excellent on pretzels or graham crackers. Even better by itself on a spoon.
  19. Been listening to more of Big John lately. Are his two DIW releases recommended? A store near me has them as imports and if they are anything like his BN Rare Groove releases, I might pull the trigger for one or both of them.
  20. Hmmm....It might be about time for me to snag the Turrentine Mosaic.
  21. If you got Doin' The Thing, you probably got the best. I love that disc. That's actually the only one I DON'T have I love Tokyo Blues.
  22. Forgot about some of these. I have the 'Open House/Plain Talk' and 'Steppin' Out'. How 'bout some non BNs I may not be aware of?
