  1. I have to second the recommendation about Blue John. It is one of my favourite foot tapping recordings featuring both BJP and GB also. I got it on LP and then cd ages ago....well worth a spin...in fact I like it almost as much ( if not more) than Along Came John It really is a shame that this never got released as I think it is a stronger record than some of the other BJPs from the period...never mind...too late now:( We can at least enjoy it now
  2. I always use firefox and when I see a link I right click on it and select open in a new tab or a new window ( I only select tab)..I thought that was the same with everyone
  3. 'ang ' ang on....what about getting it sorted...is it ( no disrespect to the orginal poster) dirty inside, does it need a dust down, lube etc...can you get it serviced where you are. NAD are nice machines Might be worth a little investigation perhaps here: http://nadelectronics.com/parts-service or getting your local dealer to replace the lens
  4. 55378008 yeh I remembered!! and in the business news news today 71077345 5378806 0553 learnt this on a 6078 that I found on 376006 gee I miss having a calculator
  5. I got it when it came out on CD as a double with the Blakey as mentioned. It was really good at the time as I was a staunce Messenger freak and had to have this early messengers incarnation. I have not listened to it much recently...maybe I need to. I always remembered Tin tin deo..that was on there if my memory serves me right...it usually don't
  6. I am speaking at the other end of one of these 'blue' blue note periods where I had not enjoyed any of my old old Blue Notes for a long while. More recently I was barely arsed enough to listen to a whole cd...oh my... Then I had a brain wave ...stuck all the Blue Note 1500 and 4000/100/200 series onto my pc and then on an MP3 player ( my internet was down for a while so I had time). Now plugged my Mp3 player into my stereo and play it on random...Andrew Hill then Thad Jones then John Coltrane then Three Sounds and any of them not just my favourites....you would be surprised at how many tracks at the end of a cd you forget about
  7. Yup I give this a blast every now and again as it has Ike in a more balanced setting for me than on the organ sides.
  8. I have to say that this lp has never ever failed to disappoint me...shame really as I spent years trying to get it and finally scored a Japanese cd . Never made my foot tap , not even once...dunno why either
  9. I am eternally grateful thanks for that matey
  10. I used to keep em and when I sold my records you bet people made a big fuss about whether they had them or not so I sent them out with the record ( I used to keep them somewhere else though and once sent the wrong one ...ummm!...I really felt a doughnut then)
  11. that is nice to see again..cannot remember where or when I last saw that
  12. Not many over there actually seem to listen to the music... What has sound ever had to do with it?
  13. That is the problem with this reissue policy, and the agressive marketing of Steve "mr know it all" Hoffman and his distinguished colleagues. They will always tell you that this one is better than previous, ths state of the art, etc... buying every kind of reissue will eventually make you spend the equivalent of the price of the original. Yes I can just read the advertising blurb....whilst we have taken great care over these reissues, they are not as nice as the TOCJ releases nor are they as good as the LPs BUT they are better then a not having one b having a cd burn c a cassette recording So order now here:
  14. .... sounds like someone doesn't have a clue about beauty Try this music when you develop your tastes a little and have time to enjoy listening to what for me with Harold and Bobby n exquisite pairing. I saw this live material and pounced because of what I had already by the pair of them
  15. actually I had forgotten how good this set was as I had it out the other day listening to the Booker Ervin flavoured tracks...really good...it was always a shame that the 100% excellent were always gonna be 98% without the covers to see what they were like..despite the gorgeous booklets...I also loved the artwork and 12" colour copies would have made me 101% happy
  16. Yup picked one (japanese copy) up years ago when filling the Freddie Roach collection...got all of his cds now. check your pm

  19. and it is bloody fab and about time too! Really worth hunting down a copy in my humble opinion
  20. let me know if you do not get it
  21. You want me to send you over a copy (on word?)
  22. Here is Bertrand's post. I had to delete the thread to which he appended it because it was spamalicious: We need to make the entrance exam harder. Here are some possible questions: 1) Who wrote 'Jimerick' on the rejected 3/8/59 Art Blakey Blue Note session? 2) Who is the organist on Grant Green's 'Iron City'? 3) Who almost subbed for Lee Morgan on 'Evolution'? 4) Who wrote 'Off Spring' from 'Here's Lee Morgan' I think we should go back to having one of these per day ...just to keep the shrinking grey cells a little more alert!
  23. I liked the "scent free environment" plan Looks like ol' trumpet trousers here will get barred in the future parp
  24. I know...I remember being told about it and driving past thinking I ought to get out when I was going to a mates near Bodmin...it was the same for the House of Bruar up north on the A9...Never went back to either of 'em
  25. Ended up getting the Three Sounds as well as the Reuben Wilson and time must have mellowed me. I really enjoyed all of them.
