NEW!!! Blue Note Europe Bulletin Board
andybleaden replied to Aftab's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Must admit we seem to have got a decent site here compared with when it was being full of hate and anger over at BnBB The thing that I do not miss was the back biting especially that bastard EDITED and his mate edited also who really was a pain ...joking aside. I much appreciate the independance we get here which seems to have ( recent moaning aside) gone away. There was moaning about posts, ebay heads up, sniping about trades, name dropping. This board has everything I need ( is this enough now????) and it looked kind of cold and empty when I went for a browse on BBNB Yurp. I came and went from the old blue note board because of the problems it had but I have stayed here and enjoy it. This site works nuff said Andy Bleaden alias Norah Jones -
NEW!!! Blue Note Europe Bulletin Board
andybleaden replied to Aftab's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Well after reading all that negativaty I can now remember what it was like on the BBNB ( where I andybleaden cunningly appeared as....wait for it A Bleaden.....see you never would have guessed it! This was appalling and needed colnic irrigation for those invovled with the nasty N Jones episodes........dreadful I will go at once and check the site out and just to post the rest of this message here. By the way considering the last link I changed my name to Norah Jones Ta da Who will take a bet on how long I last without huge legal expenditure PS The name is for sale for $0.10 with free postage and packing -
I got a Lee Morgan set from Ebay .UK only about 4 months ago for about £60 (about $100) ! If the mosaic prices are going up like this in general it looks as if i'll never get the Larry Young or Andrew Hill . Do not give up hope of finding them. You can still get them. I was lucky with these as I got them the nano second that they were released but I have picked up a few since that were OOP Let me know if you are really struggling to get them. You never know they might pop up in a second hand charity shop in Bedminster! ( I am Bristolian moved up north) Andy Bleaden

Well I used to have the videos. One off the tv and one prerecorded. I thought the dvd was brilliant and very good quality especially the sound and picutre quality. I also thought the added extras were good too and really enjoyed them. Andy

I liked the out of the blue set but for me the worst disappointment was the Kenny Clarke and Francis Boland set which I barely listened to. I rememeber it took me ages to find and then when it arrived it was so annoying. Never sold it but was sorely tempted as it was an expensive TOCJ at the time. Another non score for me was a surprise and was Jimmy Smith Crazy Baby which I thought would be a cooker but I rarely listen to it now. Andy

Already got mine sorted through Hiroshi so I just have to wait for a few more to come out to complete an order and then it will be on its way. As for the Flip it does not sound like the other Blue Notes of the period becasue of where it was recorded but it still is very fresh and slightly better than what I had originally not to dis the generous person who lined me up with a burn as I was very grateful. By the way if anyone in the UK is debating about buying it I will lend them the cdr that I have and then they can make up their mind but I would go ahead and get it as it was unavailable for soooooooooooooooooooooo long

Good news all mine came through at the really cheap price and I really like the Andrew HIll Passing Ships. Just makes me wish there was more of this great mans music around. It was nice to have a nice clean copy of Hanks The flip as well too. This was for someone with lots of Blue note cds a nice surprise indeed. Now all I am waiting for are Going West which seems along time waiting for and Ghetto Music Andy

I have to admit that it does sound like a real pain. I have the Tocj after selling the vinyl and it sounds great. If you guys do not get anywhere with Mosaic on this let me know and I will sort out a nicer sounder copy ( although I cannot understand why they cannot do this themselves!!) See how you get on with this and let me know if I can help as The Way I Feel is a great session and it is a bummer if the tape has been ruined. Andy

Oh Dear I got the same offer and I suppose I must just have to wait for a bit. I only ordered two ( the Hill and Mobley as I have Japanese versions of Sonic Boom and Procrastinator) Chin up and lets hope they honour their offer.

If it helps, I have bought the Black Rythm Happening on cd from amazon I think and I really liked it but I always had a soft spot for the title piece. The rest is also worth a listen and for the price I paid..not much it was worth a risk. I have also pre ordered the Ghetto Music here in the UK which looks pencilled in for October. Let me know if I can help anymore. Andy

Albert Ammons Meade Lux Lewis Mosaic

Up again for any last offers of help -
I always thought the later Andrew Hill thing would be lovely. Just the idea that it would all be fresh and untouched would be great...Perhaps more a mosaic then I dunno. I also would have loved the Reuben WIlson sets to come out which could be done on a select issue. Also one perhaps to ponder over... a lost sessions special from Blue Note vaults like the mid to late sixites stuff......I loved theat one cd they put out and this would be a find as there are so many little odds and sods that a box set could cover without the financial risk of the bigger mosaic...just think all those glorious littel sets you read about in the discography... Dream dream etc for the rest of the day

I am getting gradully older and never did get this set on cd when it came out as I never knew about the sets at the time. Does anybody have a copy of the set or in particular the second disc as I have the Blue Note cd That first Day which was great which has the Ammons and duet material and the Blues set by Meade Lux Lewis . At the time Blue Note promised to put the second Lewis cd with all the rest but never did and I particularly love the harpsicord stuff. Anybody able to help me out with this one? Especially the second disc and I would much appreciate this. -_-

no the box set always have a booklet but it is a reduced size one. There is one with the booklet . All the Eu versions still have oll the info but these were obviously leftoverswith cd cases and inserts but no books When I wrote to zweitausand about them they said they had both sorts ( with or without booklet) but these were leftovers with no booklet or cover. All the other sets I have had from them ( i bought the montgomery riverside last year ) were complete with booklet. Not as nice as the large US versions but for the price I goththem at who cares. As for the remastering quality I do not know. Andy

Got the box set through allthough the Bill Evan sRiverside and Thelonius Monk were without any booklet or info which was a littel annoying. Still remarkable value for the music available Andy

John Patton Mosaic Select: What's in, What's Out?
andybleaden replied to Matthew's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I would dearly like to see that certain feeling reissued as it is a great LP. I had the LP for years and then sold it. I now have a copy on cdr but will immedietly get the set when it comes out. The set is moving on from Good Thing Going in many ways but there are a couple of killer tracks for me at least. Surprised to see Understanding on it again but they must have a good enough reason! Mind you I would have preferred it out as a single cd but you cannot win them all can you. It is like the Soul Connection that I had on LP but had to part company with as that was good for me too. He had a good thing going on with Grachan Moncur III
