Coltrane on BBC TV
andybleaden replied to A Lark Ascending's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
I watched and enjoyed the BBC1 programme although tiredness meant I fell asleep right at the end and thought they were linking a love supreme to football....then I twigged I had been asleep. Do not watch too much tv and it tends to make me very sleepy Never mind , it was very good. Would also like to catch up with the BBC4 thing as we do not get that where I live ( freeview) in the uk Any one handy with a copy to borrow steal etc? Ps made up for the sleep with a marathon tranathon on a journey to Pembroke which was very worthwhile as I travelled alone with noone to winge about too much jazz ...for a change! -

I remember similar nasty japes at college We had a guy who loved to show off his stereo and would always swing his door open in a flamboyant manner. Even when we put a big plastic bin full of fag ash and water up against it propped just enough that the door stopped it falling over.....unless it was opened in a flambouyant manner!!!!! B) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Swoosh etc He deserved it! I got over the guilt in a ono second ( an 'ono' second is the time period remember that it takes for you to confirm a file deletion and then realise it was not to be deleted! The second nasty but better was when we filled a condom to capacity ( its gets very big really) Filled it full of lots of water and rolled it out of a top story block flats stairway window. We yelled about two seconds before it hit the person below who looked up and open mouth and nearly drowned as all the water disapeared . The victim had been braggin about how he could not get condoms to fit him and so we shown him just how much you could fit in a condom......many gallons! Less of a water balloon more of a space hopper! Look ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut! Splish

Nasty no 1 A friend , who reads this occcassionally ( so will remain nameless ) told me this of a post office worker who lived with an obsessive cleaner....very obsessive cleaner who clean around him, wiped underneath his still warm coffee cup etc.... One very sad day he had decided that he was to take action and flicked peanut butter ( the crunchy variety) all over the toilet and then proceeded to remonstrate with his parnter about the disugusting state of the toilet, how could sheleave it so etc etc... Her response was disbelief......I do not know what it is ....only cleaned it earlier this afternoon...um....do't know.... He stroked his finger around the toilet seat and sniffed and then tasted before offering saying...I will tell you what it is.....she had long since screamed and run out of the house.... They do not live together anymore needless to say Nastly number 2 Naughty man in Bristol who was fed up of is paranoid wife who was ( no real offense here ) big into the god stuff in an aggressive and tortuous manner especially towards him as he most definelty was not. SHe was very concerned about his behaviour and antics He being away from home for long period had the sign of the devil (666) tatooed on his head at the back not unlike the man in Damien ( that is where the idea came from!) whilst he was away and took her with him when he returned hoem just to have a trim ( in the days when flattops were the thing) His barber only got about half done when off came the hair that covered the offending item and out ran the rathered scared lookig woman who proceeded to scream all the way down the arcade Mean , yes Nasty , Yes Good fun, Yes!

I can thoroghly recommend this release as the other poster was right..........it will not get better as they got what are supposed to be the best sources. I had this set ( still have actually) and searched high and low for the mosaic set at a reasonable price. Thanks to a very kind fellow board member I can now listen to them which has been great I love Honly Tonk Train Blues (even got it as a ringtone ) and even the Harpsichord sides which when I first heard them years ago now, they captivated me completely for their unique sound. I find it hard to chose between the two of them for talent and enjoy both Ammons and Lewis equally. There is just more of Blue Note's Lewis work that it is all. There are quite a few copies of the first day around but if people are struggling......give me a buzz

For all non football fans. Copious amounts of strong cider and cheap bombay mix will be available in my back garden and I thought we could get my stereo out and instead of listening to football we could treat my neighbourhood to a whole evening of John Coltrane's Live at the Village Vanguard at full volume. I thought just when the local side are about to score I could up the power amp and blow the street fuse I was asked by a neighbour who looked very worried I must say , if I knew that England were on.............yes and were 1-0 up.............No................Its on now...........Yes ...........His face was like this . .....then he heard some kerfuffle and left me to be ticketty boo and alone . It was strange how everyone bought their TVs outside..... Anyway, just bring some chairs and we should have a ball.......recreate the Vanguard in the Peak District UK, next time England are on....all welcome! Maybe a glass or two might be in order if it gets a bit busy! After rall it is a box set! or rather

Ah well there is the rub you see I happen to be in the reverse predicament with about 20 odd mosaics but many more children! I will have to place a very large order if we are to have an allocation relating to the numbers of offspring one has. Oh wait there,,,,,,,,,,,,whats that mother? Right better add one more the Sub total -_-

Mosaic Story: Epilogue
andybleaden replied to TheMusicalMarine's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Absolutely old chap. My tv goes for weeks on end ( save the odd dvd) without me turning it on!) Not the only thing either Anyway I live with others ( my family !) and they get the rotten end which is complete frustration with any TV at the moment. I mean ..........latest reality tv with laugh a minute presenters or.....Joe Henderson's Page One whilst sat out in an English Summer garden with a large glass of scrumpy cider Where is the competition? Or a make over programme versus Lee Morgan's Search for a New Land and that kick theme throughout..... and maybe another glass or two of cider Or continues ad nauseum til the end of the web page and bottom of the barrel! -
I do not miss this sort of thing too much I must admit. Now then , a decent political row I can understand. Or a decent mud slinger .............. especially with that ol.........

I now have Soul Connection thanks to fellow Patton fans on this board It is excellent and I have really missed it since selling the lp years ago. Anyone who would like a listen ...give me a buzz ( well ....icq or email!) B) It is worth it to hear Grachan MOncur with Patton alone. Andy

Yeh baby yeh! I got the sidewinder, some Albert Ammons boogie woogie, US3 cantaloop thing, song for my father B) Even go the austin powers and black adder themes If you have a way of getting them to your phone I can cough* arrange for them to appear in you inbox . They are all free of course Let me know anybody..... They are for sale on various sites for lots of money and yet all they are are midi files played by synths...........easy really But the pains who run these companies want money for a 25 sec midi file The best one by far is Ronny JOrdans version of So What kewl Run a search for jazz midi file using your search engine ( not polyphonc ring tone!) and you will find the same (but free ) thing ANyway Get in tounch with me and I can forward some.............they are only about 20-40k in fact I think I can do one here.....

suggestions for the next "Rare Groove" series
andybleaden replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Re-issues
My votes would go for Set us Free and on Broadway by Reuben Wilson which I miss from LP days The other titles I would love to see that have already been issued would be Say it Loud by Lou Donaldson which I never got. I still think they could do with issuing Shades of Green. I really liked this and would love to have it again. -
This is the reason that america has gone to the dogs...you all cannot fail to miss the $$ You need to be thinking of investing in this ...you have already missed one opportunity!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=4151005636 Stop the world I want to get off

Oooo, I did leave that there, didn't I? I wonder if the transfer engineer would rather I take this down? Since you caught it, Weizen, what do you think? Should I take it down? BTW, I have this as a Power Point file if anyone's interested. It cuts up nicely and fits like a charm. Funny thing is, I was just putting the finishing touches on a "Dance With Death" cover before this announcement. Later, Kevin Its a raid ..............run they are coming . It sthe RIAA Now don't tease either of you. -

You naughty sausage! I forgot all about that!!! What more could I do , April the 1st was there, no Mosaic reissues annoucement of all Andrew Hills rare pieces, no Blue Train Volume 2. Maybe I got a bit carried away -_- I apologise especially to those people with engineer expertise and or cd burners! Let me know if there is a penance that I can pay for my April Foolery!
