  1. Disc 3. All Rosolino. (Some is on Disc 2). My favorite music in this set.
  2. Stacey Rowles - trumpet, flugelhorn; Jane Fair - saxophones: Jill McCarron, piano: Rosemary Galloway, bass: Sherrie Maricle, drums; rec. 1992 Toronto. I hadn't listened to this this for years, and it was good to revisit this excellent hard-bop recording.
  3. Agree with all of the above. To my ears, George Coleman is awesome on the recent Davis Europe box set, as good as any tenor playing Davis ever had IMHO (and I'm not overlooking 'Trane who was equal in his own way, even if I don't enjoy his playing quite as much). But man, Coleman was/is a great tenor player. And there were many very fine Concord recordings which I enjoy. Concord actually recorded quite a wide variety of jazz musicians and styles. Though they usually get painted with the "mainstream" brush, they went beyond that.
  4. "Jump Street" was reissued a few years ago on LP (but not on CD) on the Jazz House label. The full album can be heard here on youtube.
  5. I too, am sorry to hear of his passing. I liked Peter's playing very much and own many of his CD's (though not the big band recording, which I just downloaded from itunes). Cancer is a terrible disease of course, but in a way I'm not surprised he suffered from it. When I first saw him live in Toronto in 1980, he smoked one cigarette after another on the stage. Now:
