  1. Does that Roach box cover really say "Brights Moments"?
  2. Thanks for the heads up on the Coleman box from amazon.uk! A copy was just dispatched to me for a total of £10.30 ($16.60).
  3. Anything that someone says is important - just not to everyone. I place myself in the category that doesn't say much (around here). My timing must have been bad on adding a longish comment to the NBA thread which has not survived the transformation. No big deal. Thought it might reappear following the reindex/reboot/reorganissimo, but it hasn't
  4. Damn tasty, as anticipated. Plenty of head bobbing fun. Larry is a great addition. Very happy that "Good Juice" and "Daddy James" were on the set list. And I got to meet the man, the brand, the fashion concept that is Rooster Ties!
  5. I will be at the Smithsonian show as well, ...with friends! For the historians, just how long ago was the Organissimo hit at Twins in DC?? I still recall "Peaches en Regalia" then.
  6. I had that one on my watch list I buy from that seller very often. I had two things go undelivered, but all other exchanges have gone off no problem. I buy from that seller as well, and the rate of "not delivered" is among the worst in my experience. In addition, I find that one needs to open a formal case with eBay to get the seller to pay attention. Ultimately, I've always received a complete refund for the non-delivered items, and thus continue to look through its items hoping to score something somewhat rare at a nice price. Happily, this title arrived safe and sound last week!
  7. Yusef Lateef, Before Dawn, for $10 off of eBay. We shall see if it actually gets delivered.
  8. I believe Cassandra Wilson's new Billie tribute album will be released then also.
  9. Tonight: Cassandra Wilson doing a Billie Holiday themed concert Tomorrow: Jason Moran's Monk at Town Hall project both at Kennedy Center
  10. Just got around to sifting through David's lists, and then all of the reply posts afterward. Conclusion: Kevin has excellent taste as all, or all but one, of the titles I selected are listed above. Must strike sooner!
  11. Agreed on the Rundgren episode. Also helps that it's filmed at Todd's place on Kauai. I'm also a fan of the Fitz and the Tantrums episode.
  12. still tasty after all these years!!!
  13. I picked up a sheet of the Wilt postage. Next after I finish off my sheet of Jimi. Excited about Cavaliers starting to play well together, though defense will likely always be an issue for that squad (...looking primarily at you Kevin Love).
  14. I had been a moderate runner for awhile (never fast, always less than half marathon) but an achilles injury (that appears to be a chronic old man condition) largely ended that. Switched over (or I should say back) to cycling. Outside on nice weekends plus 3-4 times during the week, either at lunchtime or after work. My standard outdoor ride is about 70 miles with some rolling hills (though largely flat), about five hours of pedaling. I'm now starting to acquire gear to ride in cold (but not super cold) weather. I'm not hardcore, but mid-Atlantic is fairly mild compared to other places I've lived so I think (perhaps naively) that there may be some opportunity for outdoor ride before March/April/May. On a spin bike, my typical ride is 75-90 minutes. That combination, plus some diet changes (less red meat and dairy, salty snacks now just mixed nuts), has lead me to shed about 18 pounds over last 9 months. No longer a little pudgy, and now with a refreshed wardrobe.
  15. Scheduled to appear at the Kennedy Center on November 14. My only previous live experience with Lou was a couple of tunes at the Blue Note 75th anniversary fest. Looking foward to it.
  16. Thanks everybody. Just back home from visiting my folks in NE Ohio. Enjoyed attending the LeBron homecoming game (...despite his mediocre play and the final score). Now I can say I've been in the same room at the same time as Spike Lee and Justin Bieber (not to mention Michael Strahan, Usher, Bernie Kosar, and Joe Haden). Will see George Cables this weekend.
  17. I was there as well. Sat a few rows behind Bertrand, and just in front of Joanne Brackeen, Roy Haynes, and Jimmy Heath. This was my first live experience with Muhal, and I was blown away. Such a big sound with economy of motion. I will have to seek out other work by Bryan Carrott.
  18. Jeff Ballard plays the cajon on "Buleria, Solea y Rumba" from Maria Schneider's Concert in the Garden. [...recorded 10 years ago, time flies]
  19. you think his return to NE Ohio is following some corporate script??
  20. Oh yes!!!
  21. Hope they stay around one more year, and play such beautiful team ball.
  22. I was there as well (...though not as close as Bertrand ). Hutch and McCoy was the interval I enjoyed the most. I also appreciated the fairly understated way in which the Norah Jones segment (two songs: "Nearness of You" and "I've Got to See You Again") began--she started playing as a video greeting from Bruce Lundvall wound down rather than making a grand entrance under the lights. I had never before seen Lou Donaldson or Dr. Lonnie Smith, but knew what to expect--Lou is still talking about Spyro Gyra (and still standing at 87)! Throughout the show they projected selected album covers, supposedly in chronological order, on a screen behind the stage. I tried to block this out when music was actually being performed, but I did learn that Hub-Tones apparently was released in 1979, and that they never quite got to Without a Net, even as Wayne and company performed some of that material for about 20 minutes to end the concert. Too bad some late worknights kept me from much of the other local Blue Note-flavored music celebrations, many of which Bertrand had a hand in organizing (...or at least promoting).
  23. Vietnam Veterans of America takes clothing and kitchen items, among other things. If any of the clothing is business attire, I would try Dress for Success.
  24. Nice to see Grady Sizemore back in the bigs. So much frustration with the great potential and great injuries for him and Travis Hafner in Cleveland.
  25. Thanks for the general heads up about Ralph Peterson at Bohemian Caverns. I may make it Saturday, catching Ben Allison at Strathmore on Friday.
