Here's a new one I've seen just recently to cram in yet another commercial: Everybody Loves Raymond end credits showing at the bottom of the screen while they start the next episode on the above 3/4 of the screen! That's a new ploy to me.

Look what been added at the Jazzmatazz upcoming releases for 2005 & beyond: Max Roach/Archie Shepp - The Long March Vol I & II - 2 CDs (Hatology 602) Now if someone would just re-release Roach/Shepp: Force from 1976

What did you do with the extra #39?
-
Hey Chaney, I got to talk with a rep from Corwood a couple of days ago. I asked if #40 was out & he said within a week. He said I could order the 2nd 20 & if #40 wasn't ready when he got my order, he'd send it to me when it arrives. He's such a groovy guy!

Lets find a sucker, uh I mean, nice person who is going to buy it, ask them to make one copy of the 2nd disc, then have everyone sign up for a tree or something less complex.

I don't know anything about Shorty Rogers, but I've been listening to The Monkees lately & noticed his name on their albums as well as on this board. Anyone know the story of how he went from jazz to arranging songs for The Monkees?
-
I was betting #40 would be the live show. I wonder when it'll be out. Maybe all the internet trading pushed it back, but I figured he released albums in order. Maybe he hasn't gotten to it yet. Are you saving your $80 Chaney? Have you listened to the rest of them (not for review, just to hear them)?
-
Definately looking forward to this. I wish a documentary would be done on Husker Du also.

Does anybody know where I might find this? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...ance&s=software My wife needs it for classes she is taking. Thank you.

I've been recording The Simpsons , literally, since it started and I haven't missed an episode. I record them on EP, or slow speed and get 16 to a 6 hour tape. I think I have 16 or 17 tapes now. And I buy the DVDs. My wife & I have a tape on just for background noise sometimes. I cut out all the commercials so it's great when your sick. 6 hours of non-stop Simpsons. I do the same with Family Guy & now American Dad. -

That's what I've done in the past and I can't say I have a problem with it. I just wanted to know if it robs any character aside from some dynamics (probably the most important character); qualitywise.

I use Peak 2.62 for audio editing as a hobby and have done a couple cds on my own on a Tascam 4-track. So I've put the analog into the computer. Now there's a lot of peaks in the sound files that are higher than the rest of the song and that's from my mix. So my question is if I boost the gain up 3dbsand then normalize the whole thing at 95%, is there any noticable unpleasant sound quality difference with the sound waves that get cut off as compared to the ones that don't?

caiman or casacaiman on Amazon or half
dave9199 replied to dova's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Count me in as having good transactions with them. Within the last month I've bought 2 cds from them and I know I used them before that. Always good. -
I got the Laswell cd. I'll have to listen to it some more, but there's a song on there called What If. Anyone know where this comes from?
-
Is that your review of The Living End? Isn't On The Way before that one?
-
It was around the time of one of his car crashes. And I don't think it charted very well, if at all, but I don't really know, that's just a hunch.
-
I really like the unedited version of Shhh/Peaceful rather than the originally released version. It flows better.
-
I hope I can keep you going for the next 4. I won't bug you on the next 20 as you might be entirely sick of reveiwing them. Not a great album??? (Maybe if I call your reveiws into question, you'll keep doing them). You are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG you no talent hack! Can't wait for the next one!

Thanks for all the responses. I bought the Laswell album from Amazon. There are a lot of cheap new copies there. I think I'm upset because it sounds like I'd be one of my favorites and I can't hear it. Does anyone else detect the eventual 80's direction in the 2nd song from Get Up With It? I thought it interesting as I don't own any of his post 1975 work, but the song, which I like, seems radio friendly. In Chambers book he says that this song along with Red China Blues was issued as an edited single at the time. Interesting too as Red China Blues Chambers feels is a pandering song, looking for a new audience. I bet Columbia eventually does a box #9 of his 1981-85 stuff which will suck as my collection will not be complete. Ironic sidenote to Bill Laswell: the only album produced by him that I have is The Ramones: Brain Drain (1989, last one with Dee Dee). While the songs are really good, fans slight the album because of the mix. The drums are mixed way too loud.

Homer: "Ppfht! Jazz. They just make it up as they go along. I can do that." Sings Mary Had A Little Lamb using dee sounds for the notes. Marge: "Homer, that's Mary Had A Little Lamb." Homer: "Alright then, how about this?" Sings Mary Had A Little Lamb using doo sounds for the notes. Marge: "That's the same song, you just replaced the dees with doos." Homer: "D'oh!"
