  1. I try not to play anything over and over again since i have a huge backlog of listening but two that I can think of are the Abdullah Ibrahim/Johnny Dyanni duets on Enja. Goodnews from Africa and Echoes From Africa.
  2. Last night after drinking several pints of Anchor Old Foghorn, I lectured several old friends on the bountiful rewards of listening to Bobby Timmons. Hopefully, I made some sense. Two of them were going to pick up Moanin' asap.

  4. If the CD of Sax of a Kind is worth more than $200, how much is the LP copy worth? Should I place my near mint copy in a bank safe? Along with my copy of the 'For the Time Being' CD? Know this was rich music but did not realise this was rich in the full sense of the word... Pretty crazy. I have Sax of A Kind on lp as well. Good stuff but nowhere near my favorite.
  5. I never could get into them. I like some of the earlier brass band pieces that were on an English label but the hat's I sold rather quickly.

  7. all the crap has sold!!
  8. Me too. In one of my alternate worlds, Don Cherry and Mal Waldron have the best chops and OP and Dizzy are average.
  9. I'm not talking about the labels. I know water won't hurt most labels(one OJC pressing did turn pink after a DISTILLED WATER rinse). Keep using the methods you prefer and I'll keep using the ones that are preferred by many of the vinyl collectors I have communicated with.
  10. Well, I know negative comments about Miles' playing crops just about everywhere on the net. It's almost 4:20, so I may just have to give it a spin.
  11. did PN get labeled as crap here? oh yeah, the Mingus is gone.
  12. mention of tap water and the dishwasher are enough to make one cringe!!!

    Malachi Favors

Sad news indeed. Thanks for sharing that Chuck. I printed it and put it in with my copy of L-R-G/The Maze/S II Examples. It enhances the already wonderful picture inside the gatefold.
  16. If you have a turntable, the 2 lp set has a track that did not make it to either of the cd pressings. Same goes for many other original Hat Hut/Hat Art lp's.
  17. Anyone up for trading? For starters, I have an extra Miles Davis Plugged Nickel set. I also have a Vinny Golia 2 lp set on the Nine Winds label. It's called In The Right Order and it's sealed. Many mo'!

long thread. I know I read along the way that VAO's Satie cd is OOP. FWIW, The original 2 lp set has a track that didn't make it to either of the cd pressings. And I gotta give props to the Brotzmann Atlanta Concert lp on Okka and the Brotzmann/Walter perkins lp on Eremite. If my wife wasn't camped out in the same room as the hi-fi, I'd throw one of them on....
  19. The music is also available on a 2fer lp set that is called Dancing Sunbeam.
  20. a few new

Thanks for that post. Another gospel insight is his original composition Chuch On Russell Strett on The Newest Sound Around. I am pretty sure it is named for a church in Hartford,Ct that he attended.

Can't go wrong with most of the Owl recordings. Wende and Vertigo may be my favorites along with the duets with Jeanne Lee.
