  1. Tower's prices aren't the best, but in scrolling through the list of titles, I noticed several Verve Elites in the list and thought it might be of interest to some: Verve sale Among the titles I saw: Verve Elite Collector's Disc Keeping Up With The Jones George Russell - At The Five Spot Walt Dickerson - Impressions of A Patch of Blue
  2. Happy Birthday, Chris. Hope it's a good one!
  3. I got this from Dusty Groove last week and finally had a chance to open it this evening. I'll echo Jim's praise for this CD - killer rhythm section, killer grooves.
  4. Bennie Green Select, "Soul Stirrin'" session.
  5. Nice to see the Getz/Tjader and the Mulligan/Monk albums coming out on SACD. They were among the first jazz albums I ever purchased, and I still enjoy hearing them.
  6. I've been on a low-carb diet since July, so the only fast food I've had is Burger King's Whopper w/o bun. When I'm not dieting, I like: Chipotle Qdoba (like Chipotle) Rubio's (they don't have 'em here in the Midwest, unfortunately. Love their fish tacos!) In 'n' Out (again, not in the Midwest) Taco Bell Papa John's Inta Juice or Jamba Juice for smoothies Even Wendy's and McDonald's aren't that bad. My wife and I aren't that picky when it comes to fast food. Really, though, I prefer to eat at sit-down places.
  7. I recommend going the Django's route. I got mine used from them a couple years ago, and the box was in perfect condition. The condition of Django's used CD's is far better than any other place I've purchased from. You're going to have fun with this set.
  8. Wrong CD in the wrong place at the wrong time, perhaps?
  9. From Dusty Groove: The Wooden Glass Recorded Live featuring Billy Wooten Grachan Moncur - New Africa Don Cherry - Mu, First and Second Parts From CDUniverse: The new Miles box Horace Silver - The United States of Mind Jack Wilson - Easterly Winds Andrew Hill - Dance with Death Bobby Hutcherson - Now Norman Granz Jam Sessions box Death - Individual Thought Patterns
  10. Berigan, did you click on the "compilations" tab? Not everything in the artist's discography will be listed in the main discography tab. I find this an annoying feature of the new AMG, but I suppose it could have been worse. I haven't had any issues finding what I've needed since they switched over and worked out some of the bugs.
  11. My wife got me the Sealab 2021 box for my birthday, and I love it. It's not really for kids, but it is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. My favorite episodes are "Happy Cake" and "Der Dieb" (the latter is not in the first season, unfortunately). Highly recommended.
  12. I totally understand what you mean. I have to get my car washed at least twice a month or it drives me crazy. Since I live in an apartment and have no access to a hose or other manual wash facilities, I have to use an automated car wash. I always get the most expensive one, with the wax and underbody anti-rust treatment. I've always been happy with it, except for one thing - it doesn't seem to do a very good job of washing my rear bumper. Since my car is black, the duller paint in that area is very noticeable. I suppose maybe I should just take a bucket outside and pre-wash that part before going to the automated wash.
  13. "Since We Met" and "Re: Person I Knew" are live albums recorded on the same occasion, and are excellent. "The Tokyo Concert" is also quite good.
  14. I recently ordered from UA as well, and received the CD's exactly when he said I would receive them. It does take a little longer than one might think since they're coming from Canada, but no harm done. Thanks, UA.
  15. Best of luck to those of you in the southeast, especially Florida. I can't imagine what it must be like, especially for trying to get things you need (plywood, batteries, food, etc.) before the hurricane hits. I was in Hong Kong when a typhoon hit in 1997 and it was chaos in the grocery store before the storm hit. I mentioned this in another thread, but I handle batteries inventory for the entire Best Buy chain, and dealing with these four hurricanes this year has kept me extremely busy. There have been days in the last two months where we've sold, in the state of Florida alone, more than double the amount of C and D batteries that we would normally sell chainwide in a week. It's really unbelievable. Again, best of luck to all of you who have been or will be affected by Jeanne.
  16. Otherwise, if you have a CD player or just a radio, you need to get a tiny radio transmitter that plugs into the top of the iPod. Just set the transmitter for a setting, tune your car radio to the same setting, and enjoy. This accessory costs between 35 and 70 bucks. The FM transmitter is an extremely popular option right now, and most that I've seen are priced at $25 or below.
  17. I deal a lot with Sony for a couple of product lines, and after spending a few hours with them on Wednesday, I believed this announcement would be made very soon...I had no idea it would come this soon! I think Sony got the wake-up call for a few reasons: 1. A lot of their portable CD players have the ability to play mp3 CD's. I saw the soon-to-be-released lines while I was visiting with them, and they even say "mp3" right on them. Makes no sense to have this capability in some of your portable audio devices but not in the ones that really make the most difference. 2. Everyone seems to hate the software you have to use to transfer music to their digital music players, and even more so because you have to convert everything into their proprietary ATRAC format. 3. Many retailers, including Best Buy (the largest consumer electronics retailer in the USA (and in the world, for that matter)), refused to carry the Network Walkman because it didn't have mp3 capabilities. In America, not having a CE product in Best Buy often dooms that product to failure. My sources also tell me that the pricing will soon become a lot more competitive too...but don't quote me on that.
  18. The Music Resource
  19. I can't believe you just spent $65 on those sets. They're worthless.
  20. They gotta face reality sometime, you know? And I would say that MOST of it sucks.
  21. Hong Kong - Curried pig intestines Shanghai, China - Chilled duck tongues Nanjing, China - Shredded pig's ear Guangzhou, China - Coagulated pig blood (looks like dark red tofu cubes) All quite disgusting. The blood cubes were probably the worst.
  22. I picked up the recently released Black Sabbath box on Saturday, and it's well on its way to becoming my favorite rock box set - I've listened to the first four albums included so far. The music sounds great (at least, better than the previous issues I've heard), especially the drums. I haven't watched the DVD yet, but am looking forward to it. The booklet included is nicely done, with lots of information about the music and what inspired it. A lot of this stuff is new to me, since I was born after Sabbath's heyday, but I'm having fun with it. Highly recommended.
  23. Does anyone know who owns the Audio Fidelity catalog now?
