  1. Man, I'm going to have to make it to Trader Joe's soon...
  2. That was an awesome poem Patricia! I'll have to check out Bourdillon. Do you write any poetry? On the subject of love, here is a poem I wrote for an independent musicians forum:
  3. Oh I see. Trying to get rid of me huh? Well it ain't gonna work! Good day sir!
  4. Anyone here write any poetry? Anyone want to post some? I'll go first! (I don't pretend to be any good) Its times like these that I miss her the most In the deep quiet of the night when the world is deserted It is the misty darkness, evoking images of Bogart Lampposts And Muted Miles Trumpets that reminds me that she is far away, Not only in distance, but in our thoughts and feelings. When the hour is both late and early and the graveyard shift Workers are starting their day When the streets are sleeping, resting from their all important Weekly duties as portals to other lands These are the lonely times known only to the nightowls, The patrons of all night Dennys and late night cafes. Yet I know she thinks of me as well in the late hours. I know she also has trouble sleeping and I know That we think of eachother, sometimes, in the same Still moments that overtake us and wrench our hearts. I know she loves me and always will. and may that love Transform me into something much better than I am now.
  5. Ahhhh! Yeah, I've only ever really seen the Strongbad e-mails. Never heard of the Poopsmith until now. If you like internet comedy I'll have to PM you some of my favorite sites!
  6. I just want to chime in my support for B!
  7. WHAT? "We called her the Poopsmith." "We called her the Poopsmith." "We called her the Poopsmith." Is this a true story? Did you guys really call her Poopsmith? That's so out of left field AB! From the same people who brought you The Adventures of James T. Cat comes an all new invention that will leave you stunned! P O O P S M I T H. (Coming soon)
  8. It's a double edged sword really. It takes two to tango as the saying goes. In that spirit, I think I should take my leave of this thread as I've probably already contributed too much to it as it is. Thanks for the conversation Patricia! Your Friendly Neighborhood Jazz
  9. The comment "Naturally flavored with other natural flavor sweets" barely manges to make any sense.
  10. Yeah, those are the people that cruise bars for fights. I, however, thrive on the mundane and routine, so I'm in no danger of succumbing to bored violent outbursts!
  11. Man, would people really hoax altoids? They must be bored! I have a Trader Joe's in my area. I think I'll check it out there next time I go. I checked my local listings for World Market and didn't find anything. How do you get into all this hip stuff!?
  12. Man, I hate to knitpick you since I already did that a post ago (really, I'm not being sarcastic I promise), but I think of it less than treating it like it doesn't exist (ignoring it) and more like acknowledging the insult's existence and completely dismissing it as worthless (therefore not worth even the calories required to be angry). You may wonder what the difference is, and to me, the difference is my speaking out as I did in this thread against something I saw as disrespectful. If I were in the habit of ignoring insults I probably wouldn't have said anything. Again, you may not see the difference, but to me it is an important detail. I hope that makes a lick of sense. Well, my personal opinion of humanity is that the lot of us are stinkers, but I know many people disagree with me. Also, Sun Tzu boldly stated that conflict is necessary to mankind, maybe the way forest fires are necessary in nature (the analogy is my own). I don't think I really know what I think of that concept at this point. It sure was a different perspective than anything I've ever thought of though.
  13. I can't believe this thread actually took a turn for the worse! Didn't see that one coming Conn!
  14. NOOOOOO! Must....hurry.......to store......
  15. I'm glad to see you agree with me, but I don't think it is illogical at all, I think it is one of the MOST logical things that ever happens. If you are in a fight (verbal, physical) and you want to WIN, what do you do? You fight dirty. You "hit below the belt". One of the best ways to do that verbally would seem to be to insult someone for something that: A. They care about so much it will cloud their thought processes immediately upon receiving the insult. (Your wife is this, your mom is that, you <insert racial slur>, etc. ) B. Is a condition which is under no control of their own. An insult to such a condition will most likely spark a sense of injustice in the receiver of the insult and invoke immediate anger. I don't suppose I really have to mention the dynamics of morality for someone who chooses to "fight" that way....
  16. Well sure, I'd imagine there are many reasons. One may be, as you pointed out, that our ethnicity is out of our hands and insulting someone for it may be one of the most unreasonable things that a person can do with mere language. Another is pride in one's culture, which is a mainly forgotten thing in certain places in the world, and very strong in other places. Personally, I think there are good manifestations of pride and bad manifestations of pride. For instance, my pride in myself prevents me from getting worked up when someone insults my ethnicity. Why justify their statement? Why give any value, even negative value, to a statement like that? Such an insult is obviously worthless i.e. - lacking in worth and inconsequential to me. I consider this a good manifestation of pride. I'm sure you've seen many examples of bad ones. If Deep sees fit to use racial slurs (in jest) that's his decision, and it is ultimately up to B-3er to decide when he's stepped over the line. I have lurked this board for quite a while and have come to the conclusion that B is quite a reasonable and fair minded person, so I have no worries about how he runs his board (which is why I even post here, mind you). But I also didn't want to stay silent when I saw something I consider rude and a bit foul. Just my opinion, everyone's got one right?
  17. I had a bunch of He-Man figures, and a few Star Wars ones when I was a kid. Great memories.
  18. This is a very disrespectful statement that I do not wish to condone with my silence. That is all.
  19. I only have time for one post tonight!! Ack. I FINALLY scraped some scratch together and bought a new book to read. YAY! I marched right into Borders and picked up Hagakure.
