  1. I received the disc last night and gave it a quick spin. I really dug the tracks I heard and will have a tough time identifying quite a few of these!
  2. the Ayler Box on Revenant, the Bird / Diz live disc on Uptown, Nessa Warne March disc and the RVG of Adam's Apple, which I have never heard.
  3. Wayne Shorter - Speak No Evil Wayne Shorter - Ju Ju Thelonious Monk - Monk's Dream Art Pepper - Hollywood Allstars discs 1 and 2 Morphine - Cure for Pain
  4. I would also recommend checking out an excellent solo concert available for free download off of his website.
  5. avatars can be deceiving. I actually look more like a can of beer. AfricaBrass - you must need a hell of a big litter box!
  6. According to the online Coltrane Sessionography he did not.
  7. Bobo Stenson Trio - War Orphans Bobo Stenson Trio - Serenity Ornette Coleman - Free Jazz Keith Jarrett - Up For It The Very Best of Cesaria Evora Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
  8. EMusic "Plus" sounds a lot more like EMusic "Minus."
  9. Thank you for the replies! I'll see if I can get the disc cleared up this weekend before heading to the store for an exchange, if necessary.
  10. I just thought about playing a disc but then decided to play another disc. By mistake I placed yet another disc into the player, hit play, but did not actually listen to it, as I forgot all about it and left the room. Perhaps I should start a thread for this? Are you listening to me?
  11. Sure, I'll check it out if you check out Jan Garbarek and Bobo Stenson's album Witchi-Tai-To and post a review in the Album of the Week discussions. sound fair?
  12. I pulled out my Complete Bitches Brew set after not playing it for quite some time and was disturbed to find one of the discs skipping. I took it out of the player and found glue from the packaging on the surface of the disc. What is the safest way to remove this glue without damaging the disc itself? I'd really like to get this disc cleaned up and stored safely in a non-glue dispensing cd sleeve. thanks for any advice!
  13. I had a Bobby Hutcherson (and ECM) marathon this weekend, among other listening: Hutch - Dialogue Hutch - Patterns Hutch - Components Hutch - Medina Keith Jarret - solo Bremen / Lausanne Nils Petter Molvaer - Khmer Jan Garbarek - Bobo Stenson Quartet - Witchi-Tai-To Reid Anderson - The Vastness of Space Tomasz Stanko - From the Green Hill Art Pepper - Complete Village Vanguard disc 5 Corey Harris - Greens from the Garden Ozric Tentacles - Arboresence
  14. I really dug this disc after spinning it for the first time yesterday. I am really looking forward to giving it a few more listens and getting deeper into it.
  15. great choice! as pryan said this will be a good excuse to give it a few spins this week.
  16. ubu - great choice! I wish I owned this disc so I could participate. That VAO disc looks intriguing, too. I've recently started listening to Satie so I might have to try and track down a copy of that soon.
  17. I read the AMG review and it does sound interesting. I'll have to check it out at some point. Yeah, the Ciccone Youth album would be no way to start comparing Sonic Youth to this disc. Not enough "guitar freakout" as I believe AMG says.
  18. Bobby Huttcherson - Oblique Booby Hootchersen - Live at Montreux Miles Davis - Complete Bitches Brew disc 1 Baikida Carroll - Door of the Cage Tomasz Stanko - Leosia Sly and the Family Stone - Greatest Hits Codeine - Frigid Stars LP Yume Bitsu - Auspicious Winds Yume Bitsu - the Golden Vessyl of Sound Aggie - with a title like that what is the music like?
  19. seriously, though...I'm going to guess the zither:
  20. theremin???
  21. the alpine horn?
  22. the pan flute?
  23. how about the alternate cover to Kind of Blue with a photo of Miles from the wrong era that was also printed backwards (ie playing the trumpet with the wrong hand)
  24. I'll add it to my ever-expanding list of discs to pick up. I'll track down a reasonably priced copy eventually!
  25. Akira Sakata's Fisherman's.com Akira Sakata on sax, Hamid Drake on drums, Bill Laswell on bass and Pete Cosey on guitar, on his first release (as far as I know) since Miles' 70's releases. I really dig this disc. It's not too out and gets a really nice groove going. Sort of a cross between a typical Laswell production and Dark Magus.
