  1. Joe, Thanks, this was the first time I had seen them myself. They played many tunes off their new CD, very nice! Mark
  2. ...a photograph of Bill Stewart that I made at the fest!
  3. Sco at the Indy Jazz Fest last month!
  4. Me too. I want a full set. Do you think the European T's are copy protected? Have the US ones got the FBI logo on the back? Yep, the FBI logo is there. I copied a disc to see if it works and it does. Shhhhhh, don't tell the FBI !
  5. Scott, I told you they are quick, I received mine today also! I'm spinning the McLean right now....sounds great!
  6. Couldn't agree more, Mark! (With the exception that Mike has never once offered me an on-line showcase for my 3-D macaroni sculptures of jazz greats... ) Man, I'd like to see those. When I get my site up and running, I'll show them on there. I'm not sure I can close the scanner cover though!
  7. SS, I'll suffer along with you. I can cut the soft drinks and chocolate with no problem. I eat fast food more than I should (during the work week) but always try to pick the most healthy item that is available. I also love salads, but watch out for the dressing! Mark
  8. Robert, Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday! Mark
  9. I have nothing but good vibes about Mike and AAJ. He's been kind enough to exhibit some of my photographic exhibits and has worked with me on some other issues. There are many things on the AAJ site you can't find here that I find of interest. I go back and fourth between the forums and post a little more here as I have a longer history with many of the members, many of them I consider friends (including Dan ) . I originally joined both sites to learn more about jazz and to contribute where I can, so I think working together a little is a good thing for all; just my 2 cents worth! Mark
  10. I usually order mine from CD Universe. They will probably be here by Friday!
  11. Thanks for the quick review, I was wondering about this one. I've seen Golson a few times over the past couple years and like his playing; I'll have to pick it up!
  12. Ramee, Cool story about the festival! I actually have the DVD and love it. Dr. J, I would have to agree on both Hamilton and Giuffre, both are excellent.; I may be photographing this years festival if I can find (reasonable)accomodations. I've never been to Newport before and hope to make it, especially this being the 50th Anniversary!
  13. I would agree, "you can have too much Whitney" .
  14. I don't think the scenes were filmed later as much as they may not have been filmed in sequence, if that makes sense. I do believe Bert Stern said he had several cameras going most of the time, so as to edit them later.
  15. Jim, I thought the same about Anita. At first I couldn't decide but after watching it a few time, I would agree, she's kinda sexy! I really like the film a lot. Besides the music, it give you a visual look of this period in one town in America. Some board members were alive and maybe adults at this time (I was 1 year old). I just think the film is a lot better than I expected and would recommend it. Mark
  16. I haven't written shit, but I did talk to tenor player, David Young about the Stratusphunk LP a week ago. He just laughed and said "Damn, that was a long time ago"! David's a great player, but not really one to talk about himself. Some one was asking him for some comments on Wes Montgomery (for an upcoming documentary) and he didn't think anything he had to say was of any merit. He just seems to be a shy/modest guy. Mark
  17. I stopped in to see those bastards yesterday and picked up a few new ones. ~Illinois Jacquet/Desert Winds ~Sonny Stitt/Personal Appearance ~James Moody/James Moody ~StanGetz & Chet Baker/ Live at the Haig 1953 and one by Woody Shaw on 32Jazz. The funny thing about his one is that is had two cds in it (although it's a single cd recording) and count em....two sets of liner notes....how weird is this ? Mark
  18. Happy Birthday, Stefan ....and many more! Mark
