  1. But did she pull a Meg Ryan on ya? C'mon do tell.
  2. Might anyone know if "Tune Up" from 'Newk's Time' still contains that truncated ending? Hopefully RVG used some artistic license to fade that properly.
  3. And don't do what I had done at Katz's. That is ask for "cheese" on the pastrami. Boy did that get a look.
  4. Hey J, You ever eat at 'Johns of 12th Street' east of Second? Some serious Italian there. The old chicken and prosciutto rollatini ... awooof! My favorite of all NY eateries was a place called "Zeet Peabody's Sugar Reef". Many stumbling trips to the Brazilian section at Tower after diner! I think it was between 3rd and 4th on Second Ave?? I don't think it's around anymore. I remember going a couple of weeks after Blue Velvet had screened and Hopper was at the next table - ScarY!!
  5. Those high fructose corn syrup drinks are just fine. Got to make sure you chase 'em down with some of those Olestra Chips. So with the added anal leakage it all comes out in the wash! edit: for a missing 'colon' on the smiley, really!
  6. Make sure to turn down the sound. Those wide-angle lenses hurt!
  7. and don't forget that that Cat 'Shaft', shut yo mouth, hung out there.
  8. So just what is Les Tomkins talkin' about in that BFT?
  9. Jazz Professional and it has a "BERIGAN-Ready" Avatar
  10. Thanks for the tips PD! I was a googling and found this BlindFold Test:
  11. Well a whole bunch of extremely expensive Tubby Hayes Fontana dates are now available: Tubbs Tubbs Tours Palladium Jazz Date Equation in Rhythm plus the two Red!als at Scotts. Any recs on the above aside from the Red!als? please refrain from using such adjectives as: seminal, crackling, groundbreaking, exotic, stunning or otherworldly etc... as they are all exclusively controlled by Dusty Groove America. (Corkin' Bastards)
  12. DrJ... Yes I had Neohippus and Suspense as well. I think those and the Wallaces as well as some album called "Straight No Filter" were all bought when I was first venturing into jazz full strength. While I am a table-less soul at the moment, the only one I still own is Jack's Neohippus and the Wallaces. I think those four could easily work as a select?
  13. Times Square? What's that? One of Michael Eisner's latest concepts?? the Paramount is in TS btw and right behind the Marriott Marquis so you can go over there and get a MM shuttle schedule and then seruptitiously be on your way. The Muse looks very $nice$ from the Web. And here I was trying to save you money!
  14. A major "Hell Yeah!" for these. At least just a double disc set of the two BNs!!! With the personnel being so bluesy - what with Dr. John, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Scofield - it seems to play right into the hands of those kids who buy Norah Jones CDs. And as for the sound: I have these & "Sweeping Through The City" (with that "Midnight Special" cover send-up) on LPs. I think those were the DMM platters and while I have not played any albums in quite a while I do recall these sounding just fantastic.
  15. Since it's just you and your girlfriend it might be nice to go with a cozy hotel My pix: The Paramount- Shrager & Philip Starke's smaller revisionist post modern neuvo joint . i have not stayed there since it was actually cheap. Another would be the Roger Williams-centrally located but off the main paths. Very nicely done with Jpanese sensibility. Rooms have shoji screen window coverings, open showers and good audio set up! They also have a mezzanine with a fully stocked complimentary desert and cappucino bar that you do yourself!! The other on the cheap is the Gershwin Hotel. Actually a funky but clean 'hostel' that gets lots of Euro traffic. On the main subway lines. Make sure you get on the lower floors as the elevator is one and slow. It is on the cheap and they do have an original Warhol in the lobby so all the money they kept from spending on the ammenities of the hotel they spent on that. Music: see who's at Tonic and maybe S.O.B.s. The V V of course.
  16. I have been curious as to whether the "Vintage Vanguard" site is affiliated in any way with the "VV" shop in Tokyo? Shaolin?
  17. Well you know there is a Wolff on this board but I'm pretty sure he never said this.
  18. I got a kick out of the fact that shipping for a shirt is about $6.00
  19. This set is a deserved pat on the back for Michael C. When the first whiff of this Select program started there was a thread where we all posted our wish lists and there were many of us who wanted these sides packed up immediately just as Tom in RI relates. I believe this might be the first re-issue series from Mr. Cuscuna with his name as both "producer" and "produced for re-issue by"?
  20. Dippin' huh? Please elucidate. Please.
  21. PM sent as well.
  22. You are on this board, no? Looks great! As funding cuts across our schools cull this kind of thing first off it's nice to see something organized to battle that state of affairs.
  23. The middle one of course; how else could you drive? THAT is the truth! Nothing like some Kona Gold going backwards out the snout! It's priceless stuff like this that keeps me coming back for more. Yes I always thought of that as how you wave 'good morning' in Rhode Island. ````` As for KOB can ya'll talk about that supposed tape speed mastering malady from the early LPs onward. I recall an interview with Teo where he said that was "All Bunk".
