  1. Well after losing Game 2 the Spurs came back in Game 3 and stole one at the Net's homeground. Is anyone else tired of Kenyon Martin's showboating? Win the game first, then start gloating, you dumbass.
  2. That sounds very hip! Let me know when it comes out!
  3. SoulStream, I dig the new avatar! Yeah, that old Jimmy Forrest record is a hoot! I guess the organ that the club owner rented for Shirley was in such bad shape that she spent the entire day before the gig behind the thing with a soldering gun!!! Not only can she play, but she can fix 'em too! Weizy, "Dem New York Dues" is a great record. The title track is a fantastic bopper by Patterson that we do in our live set. And if you want to hear our record, since you're a board member I'd be willing to send you a copy. If you like it send us a check for $15. If you don't, then send it back. Deal?
  4. The free version seems to work fine for me.
  5. I picked it up. I like... only the first spin totally through. He sounds like he's having so much fun!
  6. You actually bought this? I just downloaded it off Kazaa. Joking, just joking.
  7. Might just be a bad capacitor in the pre-amp. Have you changed the caps yet? I bought the cap-kit from Goff Professional which replaces all the caps in the tone generator. Man, it made a huge difference with the sound of the organ. Before, each key was different from it's brother. For instance, one would be dark, the next one lighter sounding, one soft, the other loud. Changing the old caps made everything even. The kit doesn't cover the pre-amp but I did that myself. Even if you have the last of the B3s, that means it's at least 25 years old and those old caps lose their values and start getting really funky after awhile.
  8. So what is it actually doing? It's on but no sound? I'm curious to know what you're tech finds. I've had to do serious repair work in the field on mine. One of these days I'm going to get the manual and find an old junker and tear the whole thing down from top to bottom and put it back together. I really want to learn everything about them. Which brings me to another topic that Joe G and I were discussing on the way to a gig: Why don't more pianists learn how to tune pianos? We were listening to that new Von Freeman record and the piano Jason Moran is playing has out of tune octaves in the midrange. Really nasty sounding. Than we put on Peter Bernstein's newest disc on Criss Cross and Brad Meldhau's piano was out of tune as well!!!!
  9. Woody Shaw Mosaic Charlie Hunter's Eponymous Record (the green one) Stanley T Mosaic Grant Green - Blues For Lou Joe Henderson Blue Notes (all the ones I have)
  10. Of all of them I agree that Aguilera is the only one that can actually sing. It's a shame she thinks she needs to look like a whore to sell records. Of course, with the garbage that she's singing, she may be right. It'll be interesting to see if she pulls a Mariah and becomes not only uber-slutty, but absolutely insane to boot!
  11. Happy Birthday RDK! Can you imagine if jazz artists had Bizarro counterparts? What would the Bizarro Cecil Taylor play like? Jim Brickman?
  12. Yes, that's the one. I think Grant is listening to the playback of the track they just did and saying, "Damn that groove is funky as a muthafucker!"
  13. I wish I looked that good in a dress!!! Not to mention the custom paint job on the Hammond! Look out!
  14. Yes, I do live in Lansing. Jim Dye, the schedule for Organissimo's Northern Michigan Tour is posted on the webpage. Go to the schedule page. Hopefully you can make one of the hits. We also may have a weekend at the Bird of Paradise in Ann Arbor in July. Toledo and Ann Arbor are quite close!
  15. Damn, man! What do you think is wrong with the beast?! The last freakout I had I thought it was the organ but it turned out to be the Leslie. I was getting a very low volume gurgling sound from the organ and I thought it was broken because when I took it out of the van that night it came all the way out on it's own for some reason and smacked the pavement. It turned out to be a load resistor in the Leslie that came undone. Soldered it back in and voila! I hope yours isn't too fucked up. How are your tech skills?
  16. I'm looking forward to hearing "Highlife". I heard so much about it and many musicians from that era covered songs from it.
  17. So how goes it Garrison? Have you been practicing? I must say, I've been having a lot fun lately with the ol' B3. The trio did a gig at our regular haunt in Grand Rapids (Billy's Lounge) this past Tuesday and we packed the joint. Had chicks dancing, people clapping, it was crazy. Best quote of the night: "You guys are the world's most danceable jazz group!"
  18. One of the few reasons why I miss cable. The other one is Cartoon Network. Long live Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
  19. Damn... $8,000 a month? That's fuckin' retarded. There's a cafe here in town that just closed called "The Lite-R-Side" and the owner was a really nice, if somewhat ditzy woman who actually booked jazz (a rare occurrence in this town, let me tell you). Her rent was $5000 per month. I knew it wouldn't last when she told me that. Especially considering that an Applebee's is right across the street. In a non-culture town like Lansing, everyone would rather go eat fried God-knows-what than eat at a healthy restaurant and listen to live music (her food was all fat free and absolutely excellant).
  20. The Holy Trinity is on right now in celebration of my new background picture on my computer from the Mosaic homepage which features John Patton and Grant Green. Grant is making a face as if to say, "GODDAMN THAT'S SOME FUNKY SHIT!" Tonight's disc: Grant Green's strangely unreleased session "Blues For Lou" with the Holy Trinity in full force. Good lawd, it be greeeeeeeazy!
  21. We've broken the 300,000 mark! 293,234!!!! Damn... This is getting nutty! This calls for an air guitar Grant Green "boo-da-lee ooo-da-lee" lick.
  22. Sidewinder's avatar (and Rooster Ties new one) got me thinking. I'm introducing a new competition among our members: Coolest Avatar. To be determined each month. I nominate Sidewinder's avatar for this month. To nominate someone, PM them and get them to post on this thread. Or nominate yourself!!! Just post "ME ME ME". At the end of the month the members of Organissimo (the band) will vote on the coolest avatar. The prize is yet to be determined, but it will be something cool. I guarantee. Spread the word!!!!!!!!!!!
