  14. In most cases, I start somewhere around what I paid for the item in the first place, hoping to break even and anything beyond that is good. You can search eBay for prices on completed items, but basically I set a price at what I feel is the minimum I will be happy with. Some people try to save eBay fees by putting a very low starting price, but you run the risk of not getting much more than that. I'd rather relist the item and if necessary lower the price than sell it way below what I want because I started with such a low opening bid.

  21. Actually I'm listening to it right now, great set if this is a style of music you are into. As you see from the track listings, it is more of a lesser known tunes collection than a hits collection like some other Rhino Boxes (Can You Dig It, 70's Soul Music or Beg, Scream, & Shout 60's soul music). Sound quality is good, a lot of tracks are mono. The packaging is yet another design in box sets, but it's nice. It's a square box (as opposed to the common rectangular) that is hinged to open up and reveal the nice booklet, under that are the 4 CDs in cardboard sleeves. A local store had a brand new copy for $50 and I had $24 in credit with them, so it was a deal I couldn't pass up. I think it is a great set, but I was hoping there would be a little more jazz content to the music. This is not a big complaint, it is exactly what it it set out to be and there is a ton of excellent music on it...I guess what I really want is Rhino or somebody to do a Soul Jazz Box set, licensing rare tracks from lots of labels...I know don't hold my breath.

  23. John Patton, Rhino 70's Soul Box, Pharaohs (EWF), Sonny Clark, Donald Byrd, DVD Test Disc, etc.
  24. I don't understand the don't bid on this please mentality. In our world, some people clearly have more disposable income than others and those people get to have more toys. Also in a free economy if someone wants to buy something and resell it, what is wrong with that, as long as the goods are legitmate and not misrepresented. If you want something bad enough, save up the money, bid high on it...or hey you could buy it when it was new and pay regular retail. Other than that, no one owes you anything. Just my opinon.

Well I see both points here about Clem's posts. There is always thought behind them, but I do find them generally to be a little confrontational and occasionally arrogant, but maybe that says more about me than it does about Clem. But, if for the sake of argument those characteristics were true, then we all have preferences in the writing we like to read- some like confrontational/I don't need to follow traditional grammar, some don't. The mojo hand (fist) is a well chosen avatar. I prefer the Sangrey style myelf, but any kind of passion for music is always appreciated by someone who knows what they are talking about and then it's just a matter on whether you agree.
