What do you guys prefer inner sleeve wise? The Blue Note albums always come in paper sleeves without any additional protection. Dust is on your vinyl within seconds. I myself always use paper sleeves with anti static material on the inside of the sleeve. I always replace the round plastic inner sleeves from Japan with them too but I have to say: those sleeves really seem to protect the vinyl well.... especially against dust.

check out the horror 😤 I mean: 5 times the same mistake. Almost doubted if his nickname was Turner...
-
Good question. Wasn’t the owner deliberately not reissuing stuff and selling old sealed stock via his website for ridiculous prices? edit: I see this was mentioned in this topic.

Several of my McCoy Tyner OJC reissues got McCoy Turner or McCoy Tuner on the side of them.... very annoying.

Great stuff from a great music label! That is a great record indeed! 👍

Ok thanks all for answering. Makes it a bit clearer to me. I remember a time when a seller declared the value 20 dollars (which would not have been unrealistic with this mosaic select I orderded) and you recieved the package without having to pay import duties at all. And even with a higher valued you sometimes were lucky....

Wanted to buy a box set on eBay today for 100 euros incl. shipping. The box was new and I bought it from a US seller. Now, while making the purchase I already noticed a 30 euro import fee. I thought this was only an estimation made by Ebay to inform me as a seller about possible import duties. When I wanted to pay for the item trough PayPal, I noticed that the 30 euro import duty was really included in the price so I had to pay 130 euros! What the hell? Never seen another company work this way. How does this work? How could Ebay collect import duties while this money should be collected by the import states government? I cancelled my order....

I love Ware, especially the Live in The World set. But have to admit that with the 4 records I own by him, I do not really feel the urge to buy more.

To be honest, I am completing my Waldron collection. But also want to give this one a chance.
-
Another Waldron I am still looking for is this: https://www.discogs.com/Mal-Waldron-Both-Sides-Now/release/9823790 anyone?
-
Definitely the Harper set, that would be great! And as Soulpope mentioned: Waldron’s ‘70’s output on Japanese labels. That would be one hell of a release including -Spanish Bitch - The Call - The Reminiscent Suite - Number Nineteen - Tokyo Bound and more great stuff. Best in both cases (Harper and Waldron) would be if there will be some previously unreleased stuff!

I never saw Harper live unfortunately and I am afraid I never will. I don’t thinks he or The Cookers ever play in the Netherlands in the future. Jazz is dead over here. Or maybe jazz is not but a lot of fans are. David Murray was able to fill just about half a Bimhuis last year. That says enough I guess. Glad to see he has more fans around the world. He is one of my very favorite artists too. One of the few sax players that is able to play pretty much inside but still sound deeply intense. And indeed I haven’t found one record that is bad although I really don’t like the singing on the DIW record.

I am listening to these two on my recently bought vinyl and I am blowed away by them. Expected them to be good but not this good. Started with Knowledge of Self and decided instantly I want to be a Billy Harper completist (which is probably easier than being a Waldron completist ). I thought Love on the Sudan would be a bit less interesting but it is just as good. What also blows my mind is that the whole band is killing, but that part from Kenny Barron and Mickey Tucker, I really don't know any of the other guys. Everett Hollins, Malcolm Pinson, Greg Maker: they all seem to have played with Harper only (small exception here and there). Anyway it is time for a Billy Harper '70's recordings Mosaic: with all the stuff he made for Denon, Baystate and MPS and maybe include some Capra Black too! Vinyl quality is excellent but this deserves a new remaster . I know Felser is a huge fan, Hutchfan and Soulpope also as I can recall?

Woody Shaw 5tet "Live at Onkel Pö’s Carnegie Hall/Hamburg 1979 – Vol. 1"

I am in again. Can’t get enough Shaw, especially not with this group. -
That whole group is just: wow. Mosaic should do something with it.

There are quite a few for sale on Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/Stanley-Turrentine-In-Memory-Of/release/5297439 -
Most of the Baystate Spiritual Series are a not cheaper and easier to get. A pity. Probably because the demand for this Harper disc is higher?
-
That is so awful. Every fathers biggest fear.

Oh yeah AbdulLah Ibrahim’s African Recordings. That is great stuff! sorry I did not attend. Promised myself because I pittied the low attendance with my BFT and now I have the lame excuse I really had no time... but I really hadn’t.
-
Thanks I will. No I have to wait impatiently for the post companies to do a proper job 😁
-
Yes they were indeed!

Time for some Gap Sealer! Happy bday mr. Heath!

Thanks!

Everything was fine after all. Better than that even: he really undergraded his items. Now that’s rare on Discogs, altough Japanese sellers seem to be the most reliable. Found myself a copy of this one finally today! Very, very happy 😃
