It has been reissued on cd but the prices are ridiculous. About 150 dollar a piece. Got mine on Japanese vinyl.

Btw the self-titled outing in MPS is outstanding ....
Amen to that!

Yup he is great, especially the Sunrise Orchestra stuff (although I must say I do not like most of the vocals on those albums). His work on Andrew Cyrille's My Friend Louis is also awesome. A trumpeter with Donald Ayler's power and Toliver's technique and speed. Powerful trumpeter!

Hope he gets well soon!

I myself prefer streaming over buying these boxes as music introductions. The boxes aren’t very nice to look at and take quite a lot of space.

Anyone checked his FB page recently? Mr Murray is offering saxophone lessons in the NYC region.!.!
Going to see him in the Amsterdam Bimhuis with Ingebrigt Haker Flaten and Paal Nilssen Love. Sounds like a dream group to me. I prefer Murray over Mats Gustafson anyway.

Ah, so there is no one-CD vs. Two-CD option. It is just the L.P. that is shorter.
Yup unfortanately that is the case. Got the Live in Bremen Lp for my birthday and was so happy with it until I found out I missed half the concert...

Makes me wonder what is wrong with Mosaics marketing machine. I mean, they are a bit in financial trouble arent they? It surprises me that we have to hear about the release through this forum. I couldnt even find it with Google or on their website under New releases... we’ll i am going for the vinyl version anyway.

They are pretty awful. I used to own the ‘Swing Time’ and Bebop Years boxes. 100 cd’s filled with great music, very bad sound quality, a little sessoipnagraphy (partly wrong and incomplete). It’s public domain stuff. Gave mine away. Typical Membran shit product

Superb Mal Waldron session ....
Indeed it is. Perhaps Waldron’s strongest period (1969-1973). Oh what am I saying, the 80’s were very fruitful as well. Mal is just one of my all time favorites

Did anyone see this show? What a group!

Ordered this one immediately at our local record store. ‘Pure Pleasure Records’ is exactly that what their name states: a pure pleasure. Using the original master tapes for remastering, these sound absolutely stunning. As a matter of fact: I am replacing some of my German Bellaphon cd’s with these vinyl reissues as I really don’t like the sound of them ( Harpers Capra Black sounds dreadful). This label is making some rare Strata East records available again including their original artwork (front and back). A big plus for me is that they pay dues to the original owners of the material.
Only thing that is wondering me is why they reissue this Tolliver session under Strata East. The original was issued on Polydor or Black Lion wasn’t it?
I am still hoping that after Strata East, they are going to start with the India Navigition catalogue.
Oh and Barbara Donald 👍 she caught my attention from the very first note on Simmons’s ESP stuff. A very good trumpeter with a great sense of timing, space and melody. A miracle she is so obscure.

If you like Tune Up, I'd recommend End Game Brilliance, which is a two fer of Tune Up and Constellation.
Thanks Brad but I own both of these wonderful records on Muse cds.

Stitts Tune Up is among my desert island records. So incredibly good. Indeed a nice idea: a Sonny Stitt Muse Mosaic...

A very happy birthday To you mr Haynes. You are a true legend of all time! Now what should I play in your honor:
- Lester Young’s Aladdin records?
- Sonny Rollins Sound of Sonny?
- Some Getz’ Roost Records?
- Shepp’s Way Ahead?
- Pharoah Sanders’ Thembi
- Or perhaps Some Petrucciani?
- Some We Three with Phineas
- Some Bud Powell, Monk, Bird, Coltrane or perhaps Clifford Jordan’s in the World?
My god, with who didn’t he play? Oh and by the way: his drumming skills on ‘After The Crescent’ of Coltrane’s Dear Old Stockholm.... so ridiculously good! And you must be damn good to fill in for Elvin Jones.

Ok. I never heard the American version and I am not really an audiophile. I’m satisfied 👍

Listening to the Hutcherson right now and I have to say: it sounds amazing. Very warm.
-
Both new on vinyl on the wonderful Pure Pleasure Records. Already had Capra Black as a German Bellaphon reissue which sounds quite bad. The sound of this vinyl version is way better.
Also both vinyl

It does indeed. Got mine on the wall, next to Alkebu Lan on Strata. The other list will be filled with Joe McPhee’s Nation Time.
