I find myself more and more addicted to the man’s music. His ability to play both out and in, fresh sound and his whole creative approach to the music is very interesting. It’s always clearly recognizable Lacy on every record yet every record is different from his last. I can’t name one favorite because he played so many styles but if I may categorize them and name a few: - Solo: 5X Monk 5X Lacy stands out as his very best though solo Lacy is almost always enjoyable. - The duets with Mal of course: most notably the Dreher stuff, Bimhuis record, Hot House and Sempre Amore. - The trios: The Holy La and the Window would be my definite picks. - The larger groups with Mal: Moods, One-Upmanship, Journey Without End, Hard Talk, Live at Sweet Basil. All essential. - Quartets and quintets: Trickles and Revenue - Sideman on Black Saint: Regeneration, Change of the Season. - The larger group works from the late 70’s early 80’s with his regular group including Potts and Aebi: Prospectus, The Way and Morning Joy. I can deal with Aebi if she sticks mostly to the theme only. If she’s very dominantly present It gets on my nerves. I like her cello playing.
  2. happily sold my Rainbo pressing for the excellent new BNC. Big difference
  3. Always good to check. They might as well be unplayed because they are all broken 😋

Yeah I’ve noticed it. It’s a lovely but huge discography to explore. I still have to skip the records where Irene Aebi is present in a very dominant way because I still have trouble enjoying her singing. I can have it in small doses though and that’s a step for me Still lots of works to discover. What a fascinating musician he was.
  6. You mean the big Universal fire? There was definitely Coltrane material destroyed there
  7. I'm in for all Classic Quartet and late sextet recordings. I'd love to hear this: Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, March 29, 1967 90784 Number Eight Impulse! lost 90785 Number Seven - 90786 Number Six - 90787 Number Five - 90788 Number Four - 90789 Number Two
  8. Straight ahead but highly enjoyable session by a swinging band. Hutch was young but already in great shape.
  9. I’d say that one definitely has a chance. The first three are all titles where the original pressing has become rare.
  10. Ah I see. The US version was issued on Timeless Muse right?
  11. if one does, one has to do it right. That guy in the back on that keyboard 🤣 this must give some of the board members here nostalgic feelings. I was born only three years later after this piece of art
