This isnāt the first time I hear people having trouble with the sound of an organ. Thereās a community of flute haters too. Of course itās all just personal taste. Though I still prefer piano I really grew into the sound of it. I mostly found out I dislike a specific sound which is a technical thing I find hard to describe but letās say itās the more dull side of the instrument. Thereās also a more biting and funky side I really enjoy. Thereās also way Jimmy Smith plays on Root Down for example: damn! Also have a couple of John Patton and Larry Young records I really enjoy.
What a highly unpleasant person he was. Stellar record though, probably my favorite Getz. The combination with Chick works like magic. Captain Marvel is great as well though itās not so consistently good as Sweet Rain.
Men might rightly argue that Coltrane shouldn't be compiled this way because it doesn't do justice to his art. However, it was this CD I received for my 14th birthday that ultimately opened my ears to the later Coltrane period.
I donāt know how the original sounds but I do know that this one sounds great! As I mentioned the artwork is done very nicely as well. Shiney cover and very hard cardboard. A quality reissue I must say. Happy with it.
Itās mostly about other releases than the threads about plus: the Palo Alto and Stitt disasters have been mentioned and discussed a zillion times by now. Havenāt we reached the point where we could move on and talk about other stuff?
Just my observations but hey if people want to sum up all his stupidities once again go ahead. Iāll grab my Zev Feldman is an idiot bingo card or read the other threads. Talking about other threads: anyone who feels like sharing how he dislikes Oscar Petersons playing? I have a a bingo card for that too
