I really love the fact that Blue Note hase chosen to make a Tone Poet out of this one. Wilson must be the most forgotten and underrated big band leader. This one’s on fire and it’s awesome to hear it in such high fidelity

I always wondered how so many people got incomplete sets or on the opposite: have spare booklets, double discs etcetera. I still don’t understand but when I ordered a second hand set of the Mulligan Quartet it came with an extra booklet. And also a booklet of the Paul Desmond Quartets mosaic. And one of the Eddie Condon set…. Maybe there’s somebody here that I could make happy with them? Pm if interested. Idea of this thread: if you have a spare booklet, box or LP you could post them here. Maybe there is someone out there who you could make happy.

I’ve got a 1978 Japanese pressing that sounds amazing. I don’t agree with you. Like both sides very much. Though not from the same level as volumes 1 and 2 I really like it.

My love for Murray has cooled down a little but this one captures my interest. Saw him live with Hamid Drake at the Bimhuis which was a great experience. Drake is such a fantastic drummer

Not sure this version is great but I love the music, that’s what I meant. I got the Japanese mercury version. That one sounds good but I don’t think this music was captured in hi fi

Got that one too with moisture damage (is it cursed?) and not too fond about it either. You would expect more from a group like that.

the new Acoustic Sounds edition. I think I heard a tick at 5:35 so will send it back immediately and file a complaint….. *Steve Hoffmann Board Mode off* it sounds freakin great Not at all into male vocals but Hartman has one warm and deep voice. Not a Trane favorite but still: a great record.

Oh how I knew this would happen. A 2002 vinyl reissue popped up for 70 euros a year ago. This album was at the top of my wantlist and I decided to pay the ridiculous amount for it. I then already knew it was a stupid decision for I felt it was going to be reissued soon… but the only voice I kept hearing in my head said: what if it will NOT be reissued…. And I decided to bite. Stupid me.

I never look into the Jazz In Print section of the board. That was one stupid thing to do. What a great project @HutchFan. You got yourself a new loyal follower! I love Michel Petrucciani by the way. Not everything but still. His solo concert Au Theatre Champs-Elysees is one of my favorite solo piano discs.

Oh yes it is. Great tune indeed. I really like this record. Jazz Giant and Genius of are my favorites on Verve. But I also like this one, The Lonely One and Blues in the Closet as well. the liner notes aren’t anything interesting.

I always enjoy Buds stuff on Verve just as much as his Blue Note output.

Ever since I got to know him trough his ‘60’s stuff with John Carter I consider myself a fan of this underrated musician.

Already had the Mingus, Powel and MJQ on cd. The records by Prez and Bobby Bradford are truly new to my collection

All 8 in any order. The trio and the Webster are my favorites but the stuff with Buddy DeFranco, Roy Eldridge and Benny Carter are also incredible. Most give preference to his solo stuff but the group masterpieces always had mine. Tatum really was from another place.
