  1. Got that one too with moisture damage (is it cursed?) and not too fond about it either. You would expect more from a group like that.
  2. the new Acoustic Sounds edition. I think I heard a tick at 5:35 so will send it back immediately and file a complaint….. *Steve Hoffmann Board Mode off* it sounds freakin great Not at all into male vocals but Hartman has one warm and deep voice. Not a Trane favorite but still: a great record.
  3. Great record indeed. Who’s going to reissue it?
  4. Oh how I knew this would happen. A 2002 vinyl reissue popped up for 70 euros a year ago. This album was at the top of my wantlist and I decided to pay the ridiculous amount for it. I then already knew it was a stupid decision for I felt it was going to be reissued soon… but the only voice I kept hearing in my head said: what if it will NOT be reissued…. And I decided to bite. Stupid me.
  5. I never look into the Jazz In Print section of the board. That was one stupid thing to do. What a great project @HutchFan. You got yourself a new loyal follower! I love Michel Petrucciani by the way. Not everything but still. His solo concert Au Theatre Champs-Elysees is one of my favorite solo piano discs.
  6. Oh yes it is. Great tune indeed. I really like this record. Jazz Giant and Genius of are my favorites on Verve. But I also like this one, The Lonely One and Blues in the Closet as well. the liner notes aren’t anything interesting.
  7. I always enjoy Buds stuff on Verve just as much as his Blue Note output.
  8. Ever since I got to know him trough his ‘60’s stuff with John Carter I consider myself a fan of this underrated musician.
  9. Already had the Mingus, Powel and MJQ on cd. The records by Prez and Bobby Bradford are truly new to my collection
  10. Dearly Beloved by Coltrane
  11. All 8 in any order. The trio and the Webster are my favorites but the stuff with Buddy DeFranco, Roy Eldridge and Benny Carter are also incredible. Most give preference to his solo stuff but the group masterpieces always had mine. Tatum really was from another place.
  12. I quitted smoking 4 and a half years ago (not trying to convince you ) but I never took the filter between my teeth either. Looks pretty could though.... It's his brother Ron Bridgewater. Not really impressed by his playing to be honest.
  13. with Reggie Workman, Michael Carvin and Stanley Cowell
  14. RIP I mostly know him for his excellent contributions to some Mal Waldron sessions (Hard Talk, Touch of the Blues).
  15. Yeah it was from the same session. I think they might thought it would not be a succes releasing it after the Idle Moments session. I prefer the more free minded Hutch as well but still enjoy this session very much.
  16. @HutchFan ain’t the only Hutchfan around here
  17. Well I have the same thing with vol1. vol.2 etc. Might be able to live with only vol.1 but seeing only vol.2 without 1…. The horror! All my cds are catalogued alphabetically. Seeing all Trane’s Impulse! Cd’s next to each other is a compulsive dream
  18. lovely Tone Poet
  19. Two vinyl boxed sets. Already had the music on other media but the Mulligan/Baker on a 4cd PD set by Lone Hill Set. Never liked the sound nor the packaging. Always had a special bond with the Mulligan/Baker Quartet as my father used to play his Best Of cd compilation a lot! The Tatum I already had on cd in separate volumes. Call me a sentimental fool but this is music I'd like to hear on vinyl. The volumes with Eldridge, Carter, DeFranco and Webster are all favorites of mine. The trio with Callender and Jo Jones is desert island material. Managed to get it in a neat state for 60 euros including shipping.
  20. last volume in this fantastic series.
  21. Ah I don't think we will see it soon if ever....
