  1. Fortunately there are two editions: the awful yellow version and normal reissue.
  2. Saw it on the Hoffman board. Will pick up Ptah The El Daoud and Pharoahs Black Unity. That one’s among my favorite Sanders. will definitely avoid the hideous yellow special editions. The horror!
  3. Yeah he played on Andrew!!! and Compulsion. Both very good albums.
  4. Yeah didn’t order anything for almost half a year as I don’t listen a lot of music during summer days (too hot in the music room ). Did set some money aside for a big order. As both vinyl prices and shipping costs are going trough the roof these days one big order seemed more wise and economical. I’ve ordered 30 LP’s from a Japanese seller. I calculated the total costs and it was 20 euros per LP including shipment, taxes etc. Very happy with it
  5. This is my favorite OP record by far. My father played it endlessly when I grew up and I could still hum every single note of it. More music from the 30 LP batch I got shipped from Japan. I love John Gilmore. Wish he had recorded more outside of the Arkestra.
  6. Have the cd as well
  7. Yeah he kicks ass here. As is the rest of the band by the way. Now spinning:
  8. Oh yes the album with Johnny Griffin (Full House) is just as great as this one. Wes and Wynton is a killer combination. About the Powell: I never got why Powells Verve stuff are generally hold in lower regard than the stuff on Blue Note. Especially this album (Jazz Giant) is among the best Bud I know. Now spinning:
  9. Wanted to wait first to see if this one would be selected for the Acoustic Sounds Series but don’t have that much patience. All those releases get postponed endlessly. This 1972 Japanese release sounds amazing.
  10. The Grant Green sounds amazing. Don’t know about the Burrell
  11. Including one of Pharoahs most iconic solos.
  12. Took me a while to really connect with the music but it’s almost my favorite Green date by now. Hancock’s playing is so subtle and beautiful on it. Still love his hint to It Ain’t Nessicarily So on one of the tracks the Tone Poet sounds amazing. So bright!
  13. with the ridiculous vinyl prices these days (especially in Europe) I changed my buying strategies. Buying on Discogs for quite a while I’ve noticed a few things about Japanese sellers: 1. Their prices are realistic and way lower than European sellers. Both MJQ’s and Powell cost me 5 dollars where EU sellers dare to ask 20+ euros for these records. 2. They tend to undergrade the condition instead of overgrade them. The vinyl is always in better condition then described and so are the jackets. 3. The overall quality of the pressings is great and the condition of the stuff is almost NM even if we’re talking about ‘70’s pressings. During spring and summer days I don’t listen a lot of music and the temperature in my special jazz room is way too high. What I do is set aside a small amount of money during those months. Now the days are getting darker and colder I am listening a lot of music again and I am in my room as much as possible. So ordered a big amount of LPs from a single Japanese seller. With a 50 dollar flat shipping rate, shipment costs were okay for shipping this amount of LP’s. Even including the tax and import duties, this is a way cheaper option then buying them seperately from expensive and overgrading EU sellers. So I will be saving money now again until January and make a new big order celebrating a new year I already had this music on cd but these are all 4,5 and 5 star records for me and I like to have them on vinyl. I
  14. Music must have been a lot harder to obtain those days. Do you still own all the records you bought back then Bill?
  15. original 1956 Dutch pressing in near mint condition. Not worth a lot but I love vinyl with a story
  16. Yeah the interaction between Workman and Queen is incredible!
  17. This is the Japanese digipack CD release
  18. Exactly what it is
  19. I love ‘Live at the East’ as well. Probably the most expensive cd I’ve ever bought but well worth it. I also always liked this underrated Impulse! session:
