  1. its here!!!!’ Finally!!!! Will take some more time to review on my blog but first impressions are very good! This is Mal soloing at his very best.
  2. now that’s one ugly piece of vinyl! This is Chet at his sweetest and most sentimental. I could see why it’s a little too much for some folks. I nevertheless like it very much though.
  3. On a hug record fair in Den Bosch. Always thought it was some kind of rule that sellers would tell you if a record was severely damaged. Had a copie of Bill Evans Waltz for Debby and Cannonballs Black Messiah in hands for a pretty high price. Glad I decided to double check the vinyl as it was full of scratches. I think I’ll listen to the JCO record first and then try get back to my senses with the Chet Baker album
  4. Spinning now. I assume a digital cut as the master tapes were lost in the Universal fire? Sound fine to me anyway. Nice flat copy without any clicks or ticks happy with it and looking forward to the Jamal and Pharoah Sanders record. Paper sleeve alert…
  5. I should give that one another try probably. I mostly don’t like the whole Bossa thing (few exceptions) but I love Rouses playing. Yeah! is among my very favorite straightahead jazz dates. And I have to admit: Rouse definitely has that Bossa sound.
  6. I also donated one or two weeks ago. We'll hear from you Jim
  7. Yeah agnostic means you're nor atheist nor religious. You just don't know. I feel that way I think. The universe, it's complexity, the coherence of all physics: I would not state there is nothing. I just think none of the religions on earth have the answers let alone the institutions that represent them. I still remember the first time I heard the suite of the Transition album. It gave me a very special feeling. There was something emotional happening with me. Same thing with Dearly Beloved on Sun Ship. I'd like to call that a spiritual experience.
  8. My favorite Phineas. 🥰
  9. Thanks for telling I never noticed 🤣
  10. The first jazz cd I bought was Lee Morgan's 'The Sidewinder'. I bought it because he looked.... jazzy and it was practically the only jazz cd that store in my hometown sold. I didn't even knew the guy or what he meant for jazz. I must have been twelve years old or something like that. My first LP was Johnny Griffin's Introducing..... on Blue Note. A Rainbo pressing with quite some damage but that record still has a special place in my heart
  11. Same here. Not an atheist per se but far from religious. I do feel a spiritual vibe in Coltrane's music. His music affects me in a way no other musician can touch me. So I cannot describe the feeling. It's just there....
  12. Yeah this is my third Hutch Tone Poet and I love all of them. He was such a great musician.
  13. This might be my favorite Muse studio album by Woody. Even better than his classic Moontrane session. Killer band with Cecil McBee, Steve Turre, Billy Harper and Joe Bonner.
  14. Yes indeed! I was pleasantly surprised. Managed to buy a NM copy last year
  15. According to some people on the Hoffman board. These titles are already confirmed for the coming year. Chet Baker – Chet Baker Sings and Plays Donald Byrd – Slow Drag Sonny Clark Trio – Sonny Clark Trio Lou Donaldson – Midnight Creeper Andrew Hill – Dance with Death Carmell Jones - The Remarkable Carmell Jones Jackie McLean – Demon's Dance Hank Mobley – Caddy for Daddy Lee Morgan – Infinity Herbie Nichols Trio – Herbie Nichols Trio Wayne Shorter – Shizophrenia Wayne Shorter – Odyssey of Iska Stanley Turrentine – Mr. Natural McCoy Tyner – Extensions McCoy Tyner – Time for Tyner Jack Wilson – Easterly Winds I know most of the music and own quite a few. Nevertheless I'll surely pick up the Andrew Hill, the Jackie McLean, Sonny Clark and Tyner's TIme for Tyner. I'll skip the Wilson, the Turrentine, Mobley, Donaldson and Byrd. The rest I'll have to give a spin first again
  16. Looks nice!
  17. From the Complete Columbia box
  18. Me neither…. The constant stream of complaints on the Hoffman Board always make me laugh. Their copies are almost all full of non-fill, cracks and pops, seam splits etc. But I’ve never experienced such a thing with a Tone Poet nor a Classics edition…. [/url] Solid playing by both Shaw and Garrett but I like the 70’s Muse records better than the ‘80’s stuff.
  19. Nice! Still waiting for my copy. Got postponed unfortunately. So it sounds good? 👌
  20. Such a great set. Desert island material for me. Wish mosaic would put out more unreleased treasures like this. Yeah I love that record as well. I had the RVG but bought the Tone Poet anyway. Herbie is definitely standing out but the whole band is great.
  21. Yeah it tends to get overlooked a little but it’s one of his finest on Muse
  22. if I had to name the ugliest cover art in jazz I’d definitely select this one in my top 5. Fortunately the music makes up a lot
