  1. Flawless ‘70’s Japanese reissue
  2. For those who like solo Mal, it’s highly recommended
  3. Yeah that’s a great one. Great pressing and even better music.
  4. You are not the only impatient guys around
  5. Posted this in the wrong thread…. my 4 year old boy got a day off from school so that means Lego and this Blue Note playlist. I didn’t knew there was a cd release of that. I got both volumes on vinyl. Essential Max Roach
  6. Oh yeah! Great stuff
  7. Trane was my first musical ‘obsession’ and the first artist whose discography as a leader I completed. Unlike others I really like every note he has played. From his soloing with Miles Davis’ Quintet to his sheets of sound at the Vanguard. From his hard bopping on Blue Train to his deeply spiritual music with the classic quartet. And from the slightly commercial Ballads to his heated intense battles on Interstellar Space. This record is still able to almost hypnotize me. Ali is really a match made in heaven. Happy to have found this excellent Japanese reissue as there is zero chance of this getting the Acoustic Sounds treatment. Well: their loss!
  8. The one you don’t have to adjust your turntable for great record by the way!
  9. one of Mal Waldron’s best trio efforts, which says a lot. I reviewed it here: https://snake-out.blogspot.com/2021/01/1970-blood-and-guts-12.html? Looking forward tot that previously unreleased Sam release which will be of the same period.
  10. the first time heard this McLean album it blew me away and it still does. The power and energy of the first track and the sincere beauty of the second…. What a great record.
  11. I could organize a small knock-out with all the selected material. You set two tracks against each other and give everybody one day to vote. The winner goes trough to the next round until you have a winner. Would like to organize that but mostly no one participate in these kind of things as most people just do not like to compare tracks (which I could understand of course).
  12. Yeah it’s great indeed. Pat was a great musician!
  13. Finally part 2 of my Japanese batch arrived today. Collective birthday gift from my whole family for which I am very, very greatful. Part from the Marion Brown I already owned the others on cd but as they are among my five star albums I still wanted to have a good vinyl copy.
  14. A flawless Rainbo pressing that still misses some… I don’t know how you say it but I am pretty sure most know what I mean. Great music nevertheless
  15. Lacy duets…. Always a pleasure
  16. anyone know what’s the story with Jasmine? Was it some kind of early PD label? Their reissues are mostly pretty cheap (this one was 5 euros) in the second hand bins but it sounds pretty damn good.
  17. this remains one of my favorite Blue Note sessions and the 80th anniversary edition sounds excellent. The first time I heard Malagueña I was blown away by it and the power of Hendersons horn. I’m a sucker for that eastern modal groove (same thing with Tranes Ole). And then there’s Lazy Afternoon 🥰
  18. I don't mind Craft is bringing out these kind of releases. I just wish there was a budget line too. I am still looking for some pretty common titles and all that is avaible are ridiculiously priced audiophile editions or of course originals which are even more expensive. Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay, Grant Green's Matador, Lee Morgan's Tom Cat, Search for the New Land and Last Album, Woody Shaw's Blackstone Legacy. Glad I found the Village Vanguard compilation of Bill Evans because those two (Waltz for Debby and Sunday) are also not easy to obtain. I am pretty sure these records would sell.
