  1. I now see that they did not include the second session on the Connaiseur cd... That's a very weird choice. It's very, very good.
  2. Well with all European groups he recorded: Mal Waldron Trio (1966) Ursula (1969) Blood and Guts (1970) A Little Bit of Miles (1972). Of these Blood and Guts is the most essential. Thats such a great one. There are also a lot of albums with great European players on them. The ones I'd reccomend best are: Free at Last, 1969, with Isla Eckinger from Switzerland. The Call, 1971 with Eberhard Weber from Germany Black Glory, 1971 with Pierre Favre from France Hard Talk, 1974 with Manfred Schoof from Germany and again Isla Eckinger One Upmanship, 1977 with again Schoof No More Tears for Lady Day, 1988 with Paolo Carduso who is Brazilian born but lived in Germany From Dark into Light, 1994 with the excellent tenor saxophonist Nicolas Simion from Romania Misterioso from 1998 with again Nicolas Simion One More Time from 2002 with Jean Francois Jenny Clarke from France You might like to check out my blog on Mal Waldron: https://snake-out.blogspot.com/2020/12/all-reviews-in-chronological-order.html
  3. Ive been in a real Marion Brown mood last weeks so looking forward to this one.
  4. Always thought that guy was the richest saxophone player on earth.
  5. Makoto Terashita with Harold Land - Topology. Though a 2 Lp edition is always a little too much for me this is one fine reissue!
  6. Yeah that’s a great one. That’s Dutch drummer Martin van Duynhoven on drums. Mal played with some excellent local music back then, not only on Holland but also in France and Germany.
  7. Yeah Trible is an excellent singer. And I actually LOVE Adele Sebastian’s singing on The Call!
  8. That one’s so good 🥰
  9. Not a huge vocals fan here either but must say that with Tapscott it mostly really adds something special to the music plus the singers could actually sing. I experience the opposite with some of the records of another fave of mine: Hannibal. On his records the, imo sometimes awful singing, really annoys me though never enough to fully skip a record of him.
  10. I can see what you mean, I have a bad feeling bout them too. But I mostly think about my intentions: they weren’t bad when I bought them as they were seen as legit back then. If they weren’t I would have never bought them. I am not going to throw them away. I will not buy them anymore and spread the word about them being bootlegs everywhere on the web. And of course will support Nimbus West by buying more records including this new one. Got the excellent 3LP set as well
  11. Oh yes you should! These are at least as good as that fantastic record. And they aren't very rare or expensive. Vol.1 has 44 copies in the Discogs marketplace at this moment....
  12. Yeah they could use a little more PR. Tapscott has a pretty solid fan base. Outernational, Dark Tree and Pure Pleasure: they wouldn't have done all of those releases if Tapscott would not sell. He remains underrated because for me he's in that top league of jazz artists. Wish there was a similar interest in Mal's work.... I hope they do ship with tracking. I have ordered something without T&T from the States three times. Not one of them has arrived at my home
  13. and there’s vol 2
  14. again with Billy Harper, Cecil Bridgewater and Reggie Workman. I might like this one best. Pure magic.
  15. playful and melodic. Lovely stuff.
  16. I have the cd too, which of course sounds great. But this Tone Poet really brings it back to life. Andrew was one hell of a pianist and composer. You make me jealous Bill The Max Roach Quartet Live in Amsterdam. With Billy Harper, Cecil Bridgewater and Reggie Workman. I’m pretty sure they have damaged some ears at this gig. This is some intense stuff.
  17. International shipping now avaible. Total sum of 39 euros to NL. Ouch that hurts. I don’t think I’ve ever paid this amount for a cd. But I don’t want to miss it so I just bought a copy
  18. I’ve got three of their reissues…. If I knew back then I would have never bought them! Boycot from now!
