  1. Yeah that’s a great one. That’s Dutch drummer Martin van Duynhoven on drums. Mal played with some excellent local music back then, not only on Holland but also in France and Germany.
  2. Yeah Trible is an excellent singer. And I actually LOVE Adele Sebastian’s singing on The Call!
  3. That one’s so good 🥰
  4. Not a huge vocals fan here either but must say that with Tapscott it mostly really adds something special to the music plus the singers could actually sing. I experience the opposite with some of the records of another fave of mine: Hannibal. On his records the, imo sometimes awful singing, really annoys me though never enough to fully skip a record of him.
  5. I can see what you mean, I have a bad feeling bout them too. But I mostly think about my intentions: they weren’t bad when I bought them as they were seen as legit back then. If they weren’t I would have never bought them. I am not going to throw them away. I will not buy them anymore and spread the word about them being bootlegs everywhere on the web. And of course will support Nimbus West by buying more records including this new one. Got the excellent 3LP set as well
  6. Oh yes you should! These are at least as good as that fantastic record. And they aren't very rare or expensive. Vol.1 has 44 copies in the Discogs marketplace at this moment....
  7. Yeah they could use a little more PR. Tapscott has a pretty solid fan base. Outernational, Dark Tree and Pure Pleasure: they wouldn't have done all of those releases if Tapscott would not sell. He remains underrated because for me he's in that top league of jazz artists. Wish there was a similar interest in Mal's work.... I hope they do ship with tracking. I have ordered something without T&T from the States three times. Not one of them has arrived at my home
  8. and there’s vol 2
  9. again with Billy Harper, Cecil Bridgewater and Reggie Workman. I might like this one best. Pure magic.
  10. playful and melodic. Lovely stuff.
  11. I have the cd too, which of course sounds great. But this Tone Poet really brings it back to life. Andrew was one hell of a pianist and composer. You make me jealous Bill The Max Roach Quartet Live in Amsterdam. With Billy Harper, Cecil Bridgewater and Reggie Workman. I’m pretty sure they have damaged some ears at this gig. This is some intense stuff.
  12. International shipping now avaible. Total sum of 39 euros to NL. Ouch that hurts. I don’t think I’ve ever paid this amount for a cd. But I don’t want to miss it so I just bought a copy
  13. I’ve got three of their reissues…. If I knew back then I would have never bought them! Boycot from now!
  14. Yeah I think so. Sometimes copies pop up at Jazzmessengers or SoundOhm but wouldn’t count on it
  15. Just received a very friendly reply from Matt. He’s talking about a series of records to be released!!!!! So there’s probably more to come. He’s not sure about vinyl releases but definitely doesn’t rule that out. I’m buying these to be sure and might get the vinyl later then. Anyway, exciting stuff. Matt’s still calculating international shipping and will get back on that with me.
  16. International buyers have to send an email. Want to pre-order as well but Matt doesn’t respond to my emails. Also wondering if there’s going to be a vinyl version too. Their last 3lp set was amazing

    RSD Releases

I am told by someone at the Hoffman board that the Ayler box will get a regular release as well. I’ll wait for that one.
  18. Kenny Garrett, Steve Nelson, Charnett Moffet and Tony Reedus
  19. R.I.P. mr. Garnett. I own five albums that he's on and these are all 4.5 or 5 star records for me: The Andrew Hill Mosaic Select, Pharoah Sanders' Black Unity and Live at the East, Mtumu Umoja Ensembles Alekbu Lan and of course Norman Connors' Dance of Magic. He plays some excellent saxophone there. I never got into his work as a leader as I found them a bit too smooth. But he was great.
