  1. Yeah I could see why they are of no interest to the more experienced collector. But as a young fellow who started collecting vinyl about 7 years ago (there is probably no less profitable thing I know…) I am very happy with these reissue series as even the more usual suspects are still pretty hard to get these days. As a matter of fact both Workin’ and Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane were on my wishlist. but I am all there with you hoping on some more obscure titles as well!
  2. Harold Land and Hutch 🥰
  3. It’s a lovely session. I have a Japanese vinyl reissue with different cover art
  4. Nice one! That's a great record. Essential Cannonball Now you're at least sure you have a copy
  5. Great stuff with a young Geri Allen at the piano. How I pity the fact that I never had the chance to see her play live.
  6. Thanks! Is now see I posted in the wrong thread…
  7. school holidays. I am always the one getting up with my sons so every morning it’s jazz time. No vinyl player downstairs. This mornings playlist!
  8. I feel very lucky it’s the Japanese reissue but the sound is amazing
  9. for around 10 euros you get these excellent Impulse! compilation albums that contain music that was later released on new cd issues like Newport ‘63 and Dear Old Stockholm. Elvin was of course THE quartet drummer but Roy Haynes is a great fit too. After The Crescent: hear that interplay 🥰
  10. Exactly that Jim. Almost a scientific kind of approach to sound. Not a lot of feeling involved
  11. 90 euros shipped within Europe.
  12. I like tripping like this
  13. I love that Adderley date!
  14. Haha yeah the whole thing with Picture of Heath made me laugh out very loudly. People seriously defending Blue Note telling hundreds of people their setup is wrong and they should adjust it for this very record…. Mine skipped too and I sent it back immediately. No way I am paying 50 euros for a record like that. No need for a replacement too. I will get the Art Pepper Mosaic box instead. There are some very nice folks on the Hoffman Board. The audiophiles are not among them. They are of course listening music for other purposes than the music itself. That’s why they only listen to music that’s produced in new reissue lines. And then they mostly stick to Blue Note records indeed. It’s sad and they don’t know what they’re missing. They compulsively buy every Tone Poet and say about even very average records that they are like the best they ever heard. I can’t believe people really listen to music that way.
  15. Damn this record swings hard!
  16. Oh yup. I just spent a 2 month vinyl budget on those four records
  17. It is except the Bartz
  18. oh man this one remains such a great record.
  19. very happy with this haul
  20. Still mixed feeling on this one. I love Hannibal, I really do. But I never understood why he had such terrible singers on his records. Do others experience the same or am I hearing something wrong? I mean the woman on this record is seriously out of tune.
  21. No issues with that one for me either.
