I have the Kirks in their 32jazz incarnations, and 32 is not exactly known for stellar sound, either, so nothing much to choose of! Enjoy the music! So many great things to be found on those Kirk dates! ubu

thanks again, Claude, but that's what I did try - and with no result! shit! ubu

And no pop-up window when I receive new PMs! (Although I checked my settings and that one is selected) ubu

Not a problem, Dan (here I would add a laughing smiley, if I could add smilies, which I can't, at the moment). I understand your reaction, and how it can "evolve" out of Geoff's post. As I get it, ALL discussions here ARE OPEN, never mind what those starting a topic imply. couw, I mentioned the AotW thread of "The Quest" (which is an absolutely fantastic album, and one of my favorite Dolphy, Ervin and Waldron albums), but I cannot add links/images/smilies etc. to my posts right now, got some problem (I started a topic about this in the forum discussion section (I would add a link, if I could ;-)... ubu

Dan, this is certainly not restricted to Geoff's own favorite underrated albums - while I am still awaiting your BFT disc, remembering your proposals for Album of the week (which did discuss "The Quest", by the way, Geoff! Make a search to find it), it seems you would have lots of underrated albums to talk about. Why not just go ahead? I would certainly enjoy and listen! ubu

Cheers! Sorry, deus! Was writing a PM simultaneously (to tjobbe, of course...) - one more reason not to do several things at the same time... edited above. ubu

I tried all that, couw! No use... ubu

After having been without my notebook for three or four weeks, I got it back yesterday. First thing was: got to this board, start some posting etc. Then I noticed I could not post links or images or quotes - none of the "buttons" seem to be working. What can I do against this? Anyone has an idea? I am using Internet Explorer (I would not know how to use another browser, I have no knowledge about computers...) thanks, ubu

It's a pleasure!! you won't be sorry. Please let me know what you think once you get them jazz1 I will! ubu

http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...l=marty+ehrlich This is the url for another thread I started on "The Long View" (sorry, I cannot add links/images etc at the moment, no idea why!) - zero replies... I like that disc very very much, it's the only Ehrlich I have. I will look for his recent Palmetto disc (on which there's a thread in the New Releases section, too). Once I saw him live, with Bobby Previte's Bump the Renaissance. A very good player. ubu

Sorry to hear about that mistake, guys! Make sure you get the Byrd one! These two CDs are among my favorites! Another on you ought to get: Sacha Distel, Jazz guitarist, hors série 01 (which makes me hope there will be some more hors série releases!) A very fine 2CD set including stellar playing by Distel (nowadays known as a chansonnioner), Bobby Jaspar and several other musicians. You can find a more detailed discussion of it by doing search on "Sacha Distel" (sorry, I have some problem and cannot include links here in my posts anymore). The "Jazz guitarist" 2CD set is available at amazon.fr for 15 euros. ubu

Very cool covers, deus! ubu

Thanks, EKE! (However, I did not buy it... I sure got to buy some release of this stuff some day, but I was only browsing the M&A site and found this disc). ubu

font size = 1 or 2? font size 4 or 5, made for 20 or so pages... but a good read! ubu
-
That sounds one hell of an album. Some of my favourite tunes on there; '... Paper Moon', 'You're Looking At Me' and 'What Is There To Say?' Thanks. This IS one hell of an album! Guests Sweets, Stuff & Willie Smith and Juan Tizol add very much! Get it! (There's been a recent remastering, by the way) ubu

Hey, Catesta - did you post your answers? Otherwise: move out of this thread NOW! ubu

I got a bit carried away (and finished all the beer in the house ), sorry it came out so long. Hope people will read and reacrt anyhow. (subliminal message: BUY QUARTET OUT!) Length is no problem at all! I like it. I made a 12x12cm print out of Sngry's post and put that right into the jewel cases of the discs. Nice to re-read when listening to the disc at a later point! ubu

They have such a crappy website, and such a strang reissue policy... You're right - only later I noticed that it's not updated and none of the Muse reissues is listed. To use the search function of some online shop will get one better results, I guess ... But the strange reissue policy is common to almost all labels with a jazz vault at this point in time . Fantasy might be the exeption among the bigger ones. Otherwise, I rather agree with you. ubu

yep, and the Giuffre stuff should be bouth in the Giuffre Mosaic, as long as that one's around. I have very few of the Collectables (one Chris Connor I found very cheap, and the Blakey Night in Tunisia/Lerner & Loewe set) - and one reason is sound is suspect to me, too. ubu
-
by the way HUGE OUCH again, as I have "The Ear of the Behearer" (it's been quite some time though, since I heard it last). ubu
-
Thanks for posting the replies, John! I hugely enjoyed your set! HELL, I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE IBRAHIM TRACK!! I will read your post tonight, and may answer/post some more here. Sangrey, send me your CD anytime (GO SPAM and link us to your site here, this is the chance to sell some!) The Mangelsdorff track is very good - would love to have that sucker! ubu

EKE (or anyone who knows): how does this Music & Arts CD compare to the Storyvilles? Everything from the M&A also on Storyville? ubu
-
Thanks, gotta look if it's still there. ubu
-
Ordered both. Thanks, jazz1! (thanks, too, for killin' my budget... ) ubu
-
And thanks again! You're right about Getz/Gilberto #2 most probably. There are several tracks without Getz, there. Steve Kuhn! Cool. Don't ask me why I did not have the idea to check AMG myself -_- ubu
