  1. Mystery solved - just got mail from Mosaic: And regarding the Atlantic New Orleans there are 200 around of that. ubu
  2. What's that? Anyway, I work with what seems to be called a "scroll point" instead of a mouse (IBM Thinkpad) - so no mouse features for me, I'm afraid. ubu
  3. This board brings bits of paradise to earth like no other place .... feel free to remind me if heaven don't come by itself... ubu
  4. Interesting comments, Larry! I will keep them in mind when I pick the CD out of my shelf the next time. What you say about Roach is very true! Forgive me the sacrilegeous comparison, but what Roach plays is like 40 minutes constant "Un poco loco"... terrific (as he always is)! ubu
  5. magical words for me Yes indeed! but it seems they sold so bad that they did not release a third planned batch. I got the Andreza thanks to a very kind member of this board, and thoroughly enjoy it, including harpsichord The Touff was the biggest surprise for me. I picked it up more for completeness' sake and Bill Perkins than for knowing Touff himself - and I really like that disc! ubu

    Barney Wilen

I like the quartet track with Wilen on soprano very very much! And it's interesting to note that this is pre-soprano-Coltrane. ubu
  7. you know it is be patient and heaven will come to earth... ubu
  8. I raved about exactly the same set earlier, too. I can't find that thread of post of mine, maybe it was in some general female vocalist topic. I like her a lot, too! ubu
  9. These two are the same as Reinarnation tk 1 and Body & Soul (alt) on my list, above, I suppose. I have the Candid Dolphy CD, and always thought it had no additional material compared to the Mingus discs. ubu

    Irene Schweizer

I just got Chicago Piano Solo - in a sales bin, for about 7 bucks. My first Schweizer (and I am the Schweizer on this board... -_- ) No chance to listen yet, but I'll report back. ubu
  11. Z-Man, I just found out that the note at the end of my disco might answer your question. So maybe the CD version was complete and the LP version was not. ubu
  12. 13. Here's their website. A very fine label indeed! I have all the ones Out2Lunch listed. The Eddie Costa is great, as is the Warne Marsh. The Kamuca, Feldman and Rosolino or other favorites of mine. There's also a rather nice Marty Paich trio CD, a good Conte Candoli 4 disc, and one by Herbie Harper. The Marty Paich feat. Pepper is another one I like, and the Don Fagerquist octet I really like, too. Then the Oscar Moore quartet disc (on Tampa originally, while all the above ones were on the Mode label) is another really cool disc - with Carl Perkins. And a good Stan Levey disc's there, too... What you have to be aware is that most of these CDs clock in at around 30 minutes (which I have no problem with). ubu
  14. I like it very much. It's rough in spots, and maybe a little bit overrated as a "neglected masterpiece" or whatever it's often reffered as. ubu
  15. But, Milan, the Jass CD has everything Prez made for Jubilee, yes? I will have to look for some of the Storyville discs. Each of them seems to hold a couple of shows or so, and they do seem to be complete. ubu
  16. Was that vol 8 the last Basie OT Band disc MOJ issued? There were 11, it seems, by Basie. How many by Pres? ubu
  17. deus, once more happy birthday to you You sure are the youngster of this board, keep growing strong ubu
  18. brownie, the Jubilee material, is that "I Got Rhythm" (8:33), "Oh, Lady Be Good" (4:04) and "Sweet Georgia Brown" (8:20)? The "D.B. Blues" clocks in at 3:52 and has Lester with Kersey, Hadnott and Wilson, yes? If so, that's the same material also on the Jass CD "Prez Conferences". Or does the Jubilee disc include more? Wonderful music! "D.B. Blues" is great indeed! Was the first music I listened this morning! ubu
  19. Thanks for the info, brownie! By the way, Prez Masters of Jazz Vol. 6 is on its way! ubu
  20. ...Packaged in a mini-LP sleeve Hans, great you show up again ubu
  21. John, thanks a lot! Looks like I got to hunt down almost all of these some day! My purse already starts hurting... ubu
  22. This is really sad news! I'm a big (but not undivided) fan of his work. R.i.p. ubu
  23. Is there any possibility to use Opera as default browser? Can anyone tell me how to change my settings in order to do this? And then, do hyperlinks (like, say in MS Word) open in Opera? And how can I import the MS Internet Explorer's favorites to Opera? thanks, ubu
  24. Ubu, I suggest a joint venture to get Jim's discs .... That Redman - I listened again after knowing it, and it does not quite sound like his usual stuff. That typical cry he has is not displayed here. I have a lot of his stuff with Jarrett and should have got him, but this is somewhat more "classical" jazz than his other stuff. Beautiful track. Good idea Mike, with Jim's CDs - maybe next month? Please remind me about it, I tend to forget such things (no offense, Jim just bad memory) I still have to revisit the Redman track, but what you say makes perfect sense. By the way I got the Mysteries Jarrett box from a board member last week. Have had the 1973-74 box for several years, and this band is one of the best things Jarrett ever led! Also the Columbia double disc is a winner. ubu
  25. using Opera now B) and smilies working perfectly. thanks, everybody
