They all (de, fr, it, es, co.uk) seem to ship from the same warehouses much of the time (even though prices are different, depending on which site you order from). So you might order from France but the shipment comes from Germany.
-
Exactly - the other two I've had for a while (and the Ella in Japan, too ... Roy Eldridge there, so off topic here, but still recommended!)
-
Thanks, that sounds good enough for me! Still need that Hip-O-Select double as well ... tended to ignore late Louis way too long!
-
Me too, it seems ... the title rings a bell, but I never really looked at it. Guess it's worthwhile?
-
Yup, that's my understanding now! Learning as I go on ... I'm still a relative newbie to these things Japanese, and the first half dozen or so orders went through without any delays or cancellations (before that, I mostly ordered Japanese reissues from dustygroove.com or from a - most reliable - vendor on a marketplace, the later I still do occasionally, on items already gone on cdjapan or when I just want to get a single disc).
-
Okay, thanks - so I guess if "processing" is over with, either they'll get the items or will cancel them (which has happened with those two items from November, but it took months for that to happen).
-
I don't actually want to cancel, but I'd like to actually understand all this (i.e. what does "processing" combined with the fact that I can't cancel mean? in this case on an item that has a long delivery time given - something like 2-4 weeks - but is displayed as "processing" after merely a few days)
-
Yup, I found it strange as well - just crossing my fingers that they will deliver, since I really want actual CDs of these finally, and just as really don't care much about which version I get. I ignored some of those mails initially, assuming they'd come through eventually, but then got a cancellation (of two items releases in mid November, ordered in December - and I was already too late, how ridiculous is that?), so I re-combined the Patton with other items, only to get another round of delay notification mails on these items, so I kept re-combining ... now it's the two Columbia Earl Hines ones that hold the Patton back from being shipped, but I'd really love to have those, so I let that order run. I cannot cancel those either anyway, status is "processed", so I guess they're just slow in actually sending them out. Gee, one does need at least a bachelor's degree to understand cdjapan, doesn't one?

sale is ending March 15, I think ... ordered a dozen or so, these, I think: Estilhaços - Steve Lacy Quintet Life Between - Angelica Sanchez Seeing you See - Keefe Jackson Quartet Kullhammar / Aalberg / Zetterberg - Basement Sessions Vol.1 Union - Paradoxical Frog Aurora - Sara Serpa / Ran Blake Parallax - Eric Revis 11:11 "There Was..." - Aram Shelton's Arrive Live in LA - Bobby Bradford/Mark Dresser/Glenn Ferris Frog Leg Logic - Marty Ehrlich's Rites Quartet Wiry Strong - Ralph Alessi and This Against That Free Advice - MI3 Pillow Circles - Jorrit Dijkstra Grünen - Kaufmann/Landfermann/Lillinger Minaret Minuets - Scott Fields/Matthias Schubert only received them last week, haven't come around to listening to most, as I mentioned elsewhere, I'm unsure about Serpa (love Blake though), but easily recommend the Bradford/Dresser/Ferris!

checked my cdjapan account over the weekend, and that order is partly "locked" - I can't cancel either of the 2007 "Hickory House" discs any more - so I assume they did get them (but are holding them for one other item that's part of the order is not around yet, might in fact never come around) - as I'm no audiophile, I'm fine with the 2007 editions, if they come through, who knows ... I'm having four or five open orders right now, re-grouped them several times after getting delivery estimate updates etc - it's all a bit complicated it seems (some of those Sony reissues are keeping orders back, too ... still waiting for the Blue John Patton with all the bonus tracks, ordered two or three months ago, it really borders on the ridiculous)
-
don't know that one, which is it? as for alternates, a pair (of the same tune) are on the "Verve Elite Edition Collector's Disc" - and I think the bonustracks on the "Louis & OP" album were all taken from the Ella sessions, but I may be wrong (can't double check right now)
-
Oh no, very sad. Love his Reel Recordings releases, and it was always a pleasure dealing with him, including some chat about music. r.i.p. Mike King. Thank you for all the fine music.

Happy Birthday!

They should rather reissue the Tyrone Washington album ... and maybe bring the Jutta Hipp ones back into real circulation, too. There are some others, I guess ... And yes, it's my understanding that Warner got the classical music, Universal kept the jazz.
-
Anyone knows if Jutta Hipp at the Hickory House Vol. 2 will follow as well? Seems the 2007 reissues are on the way out (at least Vol. 2) and I guess I'd rather go for the SHM-CDs anyways, but I want them both!

Some previous discussion, including some eye witness accounts I once typed from the booklet of the first (I think) official CD edition: -

But this begs the question: is oatmeal still oatmeal after it has been microwaved?

Any news on new alternate takes/bonus tracks? I've got the Patton on order, but other items I've ordered with it (discs released in November 2014!) have held up my order for more than a month by now
-
Yeah! A somewhat frantic album maybe, packing in so many songs - but I was quite surprised, too, when I accidentally stumbled over it a few years ago and picked it up because of the fine line-up.
-
certainly one of my favourite new jazz releases of the past few years! :tup
-
yay, fuck y'all! btw, I do like Peterson, quite some, and I don't give a flying shit about "Whiplash", will certainly not go and watch it ... good thing you don't read German (feghers! ) or else I'd share an interview held with a local drummer who was pretty negative about the entire circus that "Whiplash" seems to depict (I guess the reality of jazz schools is again, as is Big O's relationship to OP, a bit more complicated though). Excuse me while I go fuck myself now ...

Ok, Keepnews was obviously an important individual in some ways, but calling him a "towering figure" (side by side with Sonny Rollins!) is absurd. (GA, sorry about the harsh wording. No offense intended.) ... and yet that might just about be how he saw himself

Grumpy old pain ... r.i.p. and thanks much, very very much indeed, for all the music!
