  1. I did try to send myself a mail over the board-message function, got the notice that the mail has been sent, but nothing has arrived. I'm wondering if PM-backup is possible!
  2. How about some of those more in the background? Blakey did more than just his leader dates! Sonny Clark has been mentioned - he turns up on so many good albums! Also Paul Chambers! Then there is Billy Higgins... ubu
  3. Picked up for rather good prizes and new on saturday: Wayne Shorter, Alegría McCoy Tyner, Live at Newport
  4. The Email-function is still not working, right?
  5. Some of the Mosaics containing Pacific Jazz recordings did include WP stuff. So let's hope! And about Rowles, there was one Rowles trio track on the Shank/Perkins West Coast Classics BN reissue. There might be more, maybe other tracks that are unreleased or recorded during soundchecks or whatever. And then there is - as always with Pacific - the chance that some stuff turns up that has only been released on some of their various artists albums back in the days. ubu
  6. This is great news! Yup! Stuff I never had a chance to hear, but if Mosaic does it, I will certainly get it! ubu

ubu, have you had a chance to hear this one by chance? I am very curious. I think Wertmueller is a perfect drummer for Broetzmann, and having an added distorted GUITARRRRRRRRRRR in the mix... what could be better? No, not as of now. The one copy around in Zurich costs 40 franks and is totally beat-up... Here's the label's (Trost) website, and here's the actual disc, at an ok prize. But as shipping is 5 Euros, it would still be pretty expensive - should we order it twice to one of our addresses? I don't know how good it is, though... Here's the short write up from the above link: Wittwer is not only about distorted guitar, he's more about sounds. Not only loud and noise, either, but also loud and noisy. You might check the Werther/Wittwer disc on Grob (a duo of Wertmüller & Wittwer, and pretty good stuff, I think, recorded live, with drums and guitar/electronics). ubu
  8. DUDE! A good friend just hooked me up with a copy of this, and it's BAAAAADDDD. Clifford's got his burr on real nice, and the rhythm section SMOKES! Probably a bitch-and-a-half to find, but well worth it! I see that nobody's commented on SOUL FOUNTAIN. It's good, not great. If you can find a good deal on it and want something short and hiply entertaining, get it. There's far worse music to buy. Good to hear you like it! Just got to ignore the ugly cover - it could disturb or even keep you away from the CD... ubu
  9. I saw who plays on her first album, and that sounds pretty cool! I look if I find it somewhere where I can listen a bit. ubu
  10. Well, sure! But how many of your favorite records are self-produced demo-quality Sandy Hurvitz/Ezzra Mohawk kinds of things with no real sense of nuance, spacing, and timing? Not many, I suspect! While I really regret that I never even heard her name before your mentioning it, she can't be all that bad, at least her "list of accomplishments is nearly endless" And can anyone tell me what's wrong with her teeth? ubu
  11. I know there are some non Blue Note RVGs, but they're so few so far that I would not wait and pray... and these discs always sounded fine to my (non-audiophile) ears. ubu
  12. I was afraid someone would ask for a picture. Here it is, from my scanner to you. Here's a bigger one: (courtesy of Amazon France, the disc was available there half a year or a year ago when I got it from them, but it's not listed anymore now) ubu
  13. you certainly won't regret it! These two discs make a very nice live-counterpart to the studio albums (Free for All, Buhaina and Mosaic) that unit recorded! ubu

What you greedy folks want two and three?!?
  15. Absolutely correct. The original LPs were issued on United Artists, then reissued by Sonny Lester on Solid State. I have Vol 1 on a Solid State LP. Must get Vol 2... You better get them both! I think Vol. 1 has stuff not on LP (unless maybe on that live messengers 2LP set that also had some 1953 tracks with Brownie - not sure). Check with AMG for the tracklist, they mention the volumes being expanded for the CD reissue. ubu
  16. I only have the Django, but plan to pick the others up latest when they hit the running-low-list. The Django, however, is a marvellous set! Of course the Green/Clark and Getz/Raney stuff is great, too - you should get that in single discs, or in whatever form it is around, currently, as I did myself (much of the Getz is in the 3CD Complete Roost set, one of my favourite box sets). Then not to forget the Desmond/Hall! (That's also in a box, from RCA, but it seems the single reissues have better remastering.) ubu
  17. The Three Blind Mice are not original Blue Note titles, if memory serves me right. So I'd not bet anything on these being reissued in the RVG series.
  18. Have you heard this one here? Henderson, Corea, Carter and Billy Higgins - a pretty good one! ubu

Hey fellows, I finally transferred that Brotzki Chicago Tentet date from fall 2003 - 2CDs, around 100 minutes of great stuff with McPhee, Bishop, Brutzlman, VDMK, Williams, Gustafsson, Lonberg-Holm, Kessler, Drake and Zerang. I have yet to check if the CDs are ok, and it might get end of July till I'm able to send them your way, but feel free to mail in your adresses (please include some subject like "Brotz/Address" or something, so that I can find the PMs/Emails again easily). ubu
  20. The Criss if fantastic! Just in case anyone doesn't have it yet. Again, Nature Boy is highly recommended. ubu
  21. Started listening to the Chambers "Go" sessions - incredible stuff! I really like it! They're so good, Kelly-Chambers-Cobb, and Adderley is bursting with ideas and sound! Hubbard at that stage of his career (and as a sideman) could seldom do a wrong thing, I guess. Sound is great, as far as my lousy ears are able to tell. ubu
  22. all animals are... but some are more... wow...nice application of the orwell... had to go for it after reading this: ubu B)
