Hey fellows, I finally transferred that Brotzki Chicago Tentet date from fall 2003 - 2CDs, around 100 minutes of great stuff with McPhee, Bishop, Brutzlman, VDMK, Williams, Gustafsson, Lonberg-Holm, Kessler, Drake and Zerang. I have yet to check if the CDs are ok, and it might get end of July till I'm able to send them your way, but feel free to mail in your adresses (please include some subject like "Brotz/Address" or something, so that I can find the PMs/Emails again easily). ubu
  3. The Criss if fantastic! Just in case anyone doesn't have it yet. Again, Nature Boy is highly recommended. ubu
  4. Started listening to the Chambers "Go" sessions - incredible stuff! I really like it! They're so good, Kelly-Chambers-Cobb, and Adderley is bursting with ideas and sound! Hubbard at that stage of his career (and as a sideman) could seldom do a wrong thing, I guess. Sound is great, as far as my lousy ears are able to tell. ubu
  5. all animals are... but some are more... wow...nice application of the orwell... had to go for it after reading this: ubu B)
  6. all animals are... but some are more...
  7. Damn. How many days was it, from the time you placed your order with Mosaic, till you received the goods? What do you think of the sound quality of the Vee Jay sets? Took pretty long, but if those fellas at the swiss border wouldn't have been suspicious, I'd have gotten the package a week ago. No time to listen so far. Start tomorrow! ubu
  8. Randy Weston, Blue Moses definitively not his best, but this one would deserve a CD appearance! ubu (edited to add the title, as the jpg's unreadable)
  9. finally got mine: Shorter/Morgan: #1853 Chambers/Kelly: #1874 that's the cool part of it... ... now the less cool: Shipping (Surface): $18 Handling Fee Swiss Postal Services: $15 Custom Tax: $14 Sucks! Had to fax the customs a copy of the yellow invoice, before they finally sent the box my way! First time this has happened with a Mosaic package. ubu
  10. Hey you gotta make friends if you want to have more than one PM a day Me got two Mosaics today, which is enough... (yup, I'm told to get a life. but then...) ubu
  11. Leffe is my favourite beer, too! Here's some: ubu

    Archie Shepp

JohnS and Lazaro were talking about a different Savoy Shepp/Dixon. It was a quartet date form late '62 with Don Moore/Reggie Workman - bass and Paul Cohen/Howard McRae - drums. The Workman/McRae tandem play on one of the four tracks. Wonderful date never on cd 'cause Dixon owns the masters. I stand corrected. Sounds like something that I'd love to hear! But the other one is not bad, either. ubu
  14. sounds good! Hope I'll be home then to record it!

How would you compare it to the one I mentioned above? ubu
  16. Hey, sidewinder, I know you and Bev and a few others start some threads on cool UK-reissues, but how would it be to have one regularly updated? I always try to remember some UK stuff that is recommended, but then I'm often too lazy to search for the various and usually rather short threads, or I simply can't remember the musicians anymore... Would you do a UK jazz reissues thread? I guess I would not be the only one interested! ubu
  17. and let me also add my for the Russeell/Hawkins and the Bailey! ubu
  18. how about from source Candid records thanks - I forgot about their site again... ubu

my mom always made me stop playing it. now you, my dear friend, tend to be over the top from time to time, too (not that I'm implying that might right now be the case, no, no, not at all, sir! ) ubu
  20. Have a good one, Barak! And many happy returns! ubu
  21. Max Roach, Freedom Now Suite The Terry, yes! And all the Minguses, check "Mingus presents Mingus" first! And if you "get" that relatively free stuff, try some of the Cecil Taylor, maybe "The World of", and "New York City R'n'B" first (Buell Neidlinger is co-billed on that one). Clunky, I never managed to get hold of the Thompson disc - you know some place that does not only list it, but indeed has it? ubu

Had a listen to this one onver the weekend - quite good it is, I think, but I have to listen more. Some groovy stuff, some pretty tame, but then Anderson's got a beautiful sound. ubu
