Got that one recently, I think it was from CDConnection. Should be around... Here it is! (althouth you might want to get it at a cheaper prize...) Some of the tracks on that CD are not even on that Prez live box! ubu

Surface mail option to Europe
king ubu replied to Tony Pusey's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I guess you're correct about Berlusconi/Bossi/Fini etc! However, we just need a large bag, made of thick strong material, catch them all, put them in the bag, and close the bag so noone will be able to open it again. Sure there will come others, if the first few are in that bag, but we'll have another bag ready for the next generation And now we cut it! It gets political indeed! Best we agree on a post-moratorium in this thread until your Mosaic finally arrives... ubu -

Why that gentleman is as nice as Messrs. Haider, Berlusconi, Le Pen, Möllemann (r.i.p.), Fortuyn (sp? r.i.p.)and a few others - I would see NOTHING political about that! Populism has nothing common with politics, populism is for the people, politics not, right? -
i wonder what a soprano saw might be!

This here is the same stuff, I think (although the site I took it from says not):

Just for fun, here's the cover of the Ozone LP with the February '62 recordings: ubu

Funny Rat is an equal opportunity thread. I have to admit, I have never listened to Jelly Roll. does he sound like Herr Broetzmann? Well, I got his RCA 5CD set when it hit the running low list on the Trueblue site. I think it's still there, if not, it has been there for years - I got mine years ago... and haven't listened yet through it all. That Classics I got for 5$ at a used shop, but it's new. Had to go for it. There's some funny kazoo, and - more important - some pretty cool solo piano sides, of course all in awful sound, but very interesting, and often rhythmically daring, to say the least! Now listening to the Rivers LP "Streams" (not mine, hélas!) ubu

I have no idea. I found it on the net without any information. http://www.jazzvisionsphotos.com/contact/rahsaan.htm Photo is taken by Michael Wilderman, but not dated. That japanese site mentions the photographer, too. Here's another one, undated: (source) And one more: (source) ubu

Listening now to: Jelly Roll Morton Classics 1923-1924 oooooops, wrong thread

I wouldn't give too much on these Newsound releases! I've got a Miles disc, and it has one track, "Mr. Lucky", listed as being from the fall '60 European tour (with Stitt, Kelly, Chambers, Cobb), but once it starts, there's a baritone sax and no tenor, and you soon suspect that this is the Donald Byrd/Pepper Adams band (no proof, however). The "Live in Seattle" set is incredible, in my opinion! Love every minute of it (but ought to spin it far more often)! And definitively get the CD, as it has lots of material not on the LP set. ubu

Makes sense indeed! Yes, and the cuckoo clocks are as german as were the guys who started the whole dada thing (Ball, Arp, Huelsenbeck, to name a few)... And as you know it's not Switzerland where clocks are late, but it's Germany (look at the Deutsche Bahn, for instance, or at the Schröder guy's plans for reforms...) ubu -

Both Raney's are available on Amazon France (I just got them from there): http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/search-ha...9158293-1136262 Wilen's still there, too: http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000...9158293-1136262 A few others might still be aroun on Amazon France, but you better grab them now! ubu Well, the Raney link won't work. Do a search for "Raney Paris" or "Raney Visits Paris" and you'll be there. ubu

Ubu, it's (almost) all there. http://www.shef.ac.uk/misc/rec/ps/efi/mtaylors.html Have the whole of Akisakila on vinyl but you can trace what is not on that vol. 2 you got on that site. Thanks, brownie! Somehow I keep forgetting that site! And now you mention it, there's even a second CT discography online, somewhere... lazy me -_- Listened to this one while having dinner (obviously without Ms. ubu ): And yes, for me it clearly is Will have to listen some more, but I like it a lot! Now half way through: Some beautiful stuff on it! That Tribute to Lester is really moving! ubu

So the best we can hope for is a Legacy-like programme? That would be far better than anything that BMG/RCA/Bluebird has on offer at the moment!
-
There's a difference? Not sure. They at least have those digipacks, and some new ones from time to time (well, only if you like Dave Douglas, I guess). Bluebird = RCA = BMG AFAIK Yep, I would say so, too. And I'm not very fond of the Mohns... they tend to mess things up. What did they do in WWII, by the way?

I hope we'll see something like the series I put the list together of, but I guess we won't... BMG are maybe the most moronic among the big ones, as far as marketing and reissuing jazz goes... well, except for Bluebird! ubu
