Well, Hi! It's me again Downloaded some stuff from the Atavistic website - listened to the Fred Anderson and some of the McPhee samples, so far, and am looking forward to hearing the Brötzles samples and more - some very good stuff available there! The only releases I have are a couple of the UMS (one of the McPhees, "Trinity", and the Hal Russell I just mentioned). Will have to order a lot from their releases, some fine day! Do they go OOP? Fast? Let's hope not! ubu
  2. No photo from mainstation, but here's my favourite store there: ubu B)
  3. But they're nice, no? I'll do good and replace them with smaller ones... but got to have dinner now, first. The whole first page of this thread is now 20MB ! Resized and comments added. Hope the images are ok now, as far as size is concerned. ubu

  5. all resized now - should be ok (?) Zurich Mainstation, and the corny, pseudo-old "Landesmuseum", sort of an official museum displaying historical stuff, mostly too stupid to deal with, but not always. An ugly building, only 100 years old. The hall of the station, though is great. Maybe I can find an photo to show how it looks inside.
  6. Gotta have some swiss banking institutes, of course... head offices of UBS and CS. The Paradeplatz - as the saying goes, you'd only have to dig through some meters of probably beton, and then you'd find tons of gold... some from Nazis, some from Jews, some from Swiss, some from other famous clients...
  7. A view of the old town of Zurich, along the river "Limmat". The building right behind the tower of the church is the University of Zurich, right left of it is the Technical University (ETH), built by Gottfried Semper.
  8. You can see the Uetliberg in the background - every tourist goes there, I haven't made it up there so far (though there's some sort of a train, no need to walk up there for me, and no urge to do so, either...)
  9. The Grossmünster - one of the largest churches of Zurich - part of the reformation took place in its whereabouts (Zwingli was a preacher here, I think).
  10. A view from the Quaibrücke, the bridge right at the lakeshore, though this view goes to the other side. Left the old town, left (in front) the "Bauschänzli" (mikeweil: that was the place your bass player had in mind, the "Biergarten" - the swimming baths is right behind it). The river comes out of the lake, it's called the "Limmat".
  11. From the Jazztimes website: Listened to disc one of the Mosaic last night (instead of catching enough sleep), and hell, some of it is frantic and over the top, but then dig what he does with "Memories of You" and "Don't Stand a Ghost of a Chance"! Beautiful stuff! ubu
  12. Same here. I've been drinking wines that are not sweet so I drink less. edited because I've been drinking... do you have poop on your face yet? Now that's disgusting, my friend! You Europeans always are so over the top! Btw, I decided to go the Leffe-road tonight, but only had one so far, so no poop here... ubu downed that wine already then, eh? Hell NO, when I say! Will have another Leffe and then I'll drop dead (till six a.m. tomorrow, that is...) ubu

There's so much in the music of the Zentralquartett! Abdullah Ibrahim, african horns styled playing by Petrowsky, great blues playing, free eruptive stuff, polka-like eastern-infused things... they beat me everytime I listen to them! Anyone else has any of their albums? ubu

Oh, I didn't get the song-titles' allusions - of course "Azure" came to mind, but somehow I didn't associate anything with it... Also I didn't know there really are connection of Anderson's to the music of Ellington, only felt like it when I listened. "Cheer Up" is as good as "Azurety", and Anderson himself never fails to astonish! His sound is so beautiful, and he's got a huge range on the trombone! Now onto something else: "Plié" (Intakt 037) by the Zentralquartett: Conrad Bauer, Uli Gumpert, Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, Günter Sommer. Great stuff, for sure! I think I still prefer the other of their Intakts I have, the self-titled one (Intakt 069). Got to get the other someday (Intakt 050, "Careless Love"). ubu
