  1. I'm after a physical copy of this. i think I'll try the label directly once I've worked out how to navigate their Italian only website. This should be on the way to me from the label. As Flurin describes elsewhere email the label and they reply ( in English) and sent me a Paypal request for the cost+shipping. Hopefully the disc should be here soon. The Trio disc is outstanding. What for me started as a desire to support a fellow O member has developed in fully fledged and unashamed fan-boy status. Perhaps the latter has been obvious for some time in my postings but for those who haven't sampled Alex's output the new trio disc is as good a place as any to start. You shall enjoy it, it's excellent - both discs!
  2. Not sure how "new" and "previously unrleased" this is (neither how "from original tapes" is meant ... the Coltrane release in the same series sounds a bit muddy and has the usual fake applause, so it's maybe "original dubbed/edtied/faked tapes", but certainly not "original tapes") ... how does this compare to the Blue Note CD "Billie's Blues"?
  3. Ordered several weeks ago - not too familiar with Clayton, but love those Jones/Haden duos and am looking forward to hearing more of Jones in a similar setting!
  4. I'm like ... 13 volumes behind - but good to see the series continue
  5. Excellent album indeed, Alex! I've played it four or five times by now and am enjoying it immensely!
  6. Well, someone will let us know about some Larry Young mosaic sets found in the warehouse for sure ... I don't know the RVGs, but only have the old "domestic" discs for the Blakey Bohemias ...
  7. Should read here more often, I guess ... UK has fairly pricey offers by now only, but there was one lone copy around on the continental sites, sold by amazon itself ... snatched it up at a more than acceptable price - not shipped yet, but I'm optimistic! Thanks for alerting me, David! Good luck! It is being processed, so I guess I'm safe! (Provided the post won't freak up ... glad I'm not in Germany, as far as that is concerned.) I'd appreciate any feedback re Cafe Bohemia disc and how it compares to the RVG. I'd a Kenny D nut. Still have the old McMasters of those ... anyone with any insight into specifics there? The Van Gelders look lovely and I often thought of finally getting them, but then there's still piles of stuff I don't have and want to explore, rather than re-buy things. But it's a slippery slope and I've bought a few of those SHM discs and they're a fine bunch for sure! (So far, I restricted myself to ones adding previously unreleased takes though, even if it's just a second alternate as on "Workout".)

  9. I'm not in the market for this, but some might be interested: € 34 at amazon.de (pre VAT deduction)
  10. No bassist on which CD? On the "Tracks in the Sand" one, bassist ist listed as Arthur Phipps - and just in case, it surely does not sound like Mingus at all. Great to hear some more Richard Williams though! Enjoying my first spin right now.
  11. Thanks, that looks like a very cool label! All I have from them so far is a Morton Feldman solo piano disc.
  12. Ouch - what's the name of the label? Or is it still too early to share more information?
  13. If I were a vegetarian, would I need be offended? Seriously: the Peppers were mentioned somewhere, earlier - as vinyl only, I think? Seems of two of them, there are CD editions as well (one is listed LP only in the catalogue, the third as well and that ones seems to be LP only in fact).
  14. That is very cool news! Please keep us posted about further details!
  15. I'll wait for a BluSpec or SHM-CD edition.
  16. now is the time to search for new Bradfords - there a bunch of good ones. Indeed! The OOP "Kampen" from NoBusiness (vinyl only) is very much worth looking for, too ... in addition to "Silver Cornet" that is, which needn't be "looked for", rather than just be bought!
  17. love that cover! r.i.p. Mr. Jeffrey
  18. yay! cover of the year - and some mighty good playing on top of that!
  19. Well, I'm crossing fingers but not holding my breath ... will just keep my CD-R copy of Vol. 2 then. Better than nothing ...
  20. Nice! Some more info here: http://www.fremeaux.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=64&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=1619&option=com_virtuemart
  21. I have a copy on the way (via priceminister.com - european a-sites don't have such good offers and transatlantic shipping costs exploded).
  22. some previous stuff on Perkinson: thought there was more, but this is all that a google search brings up (all, other than some mentions in passing)
