This one looks tasty! Get two of them if you have a chance to listen and like it, please! I don't know about that trio you mentioned, never actually heard them! But you've heard Sonny Simmons, haven't you? Nothing except this one:

Thanks for your offer, Tony, but with 20$ plus shipping customs should not be a problem, so I ordered them directly. Anyone knows about their shipping fees? They charge me 4.50$, which is what's displayed before you enter your address (when the website/calculation supposedly believes your ordering from teh US). Do they have same shipping fees for US/Overseas? Their overseas shipping is quite high. Check it in the backoffice section of the site. 10.50$ makes more sense, thanks!

Weston's "Carnival" is highly recommended! Some great Billy Harper there!

David, I missed this post when you originally wrote it. Knowing your affectation for solo bass records, may I direct your attention to this interesting-looking one? http://www.nottwo.com/PelnaPlyta.php?Id=1&W=&Od=&Off= Oles is a very fine player, so this disc could be good. He sat in with Brad Mehldau's trio, for instance, and seems to be one of the best Polish bass players (I believe he exiled, but I'm not sure).

word! (another Mingus fanatic here!) oh, put the 1964 Europe stuff also on the list of things you get BEFORE you get the rest ("Great Concert", "Mingus in Europe" 2 vols., and some others). Same for the three Impulse albums! All terrific, in my opinion! ubu

I quite like hatOLOGY cover design. Most of mine look like new still. Impulse, well, the older ones were a bit better (such as the ones mentioned), but newer ones (for instance the Coltrane/Shepp Newport) got very flimsy, just one layer of cardboard where you put in the cover, which is at least twice as heavy as that cardboard... can't hold long.

'specially for you, my friend: -
Tom - I just saw a "revised" box of this at Fry's the other day. It's in a tall book form, like the re-released Miles boxes. If you're looking for it, it might suit ya better... I also saw a new version like that of the 3 cd Monk box that Noj mentioned. Yes, I saw both of these in long box versions, but I never yet saw a miles in long box version, strangely. The Monk, in my opinion, is a very nice one (the small one).

I guess the time has now come for you to explain, so please do, dear Sir! -
I love this one on the Plainisphare site:
-
Never heard of this? Is it on CD? I don't know if it's on cd. It's on the Plainisphere label [swiss?], from 1983. Swiss indeed, and as you can see here, it has never been on CD. Care to give some more info about it, Dmitry? ubu

IMO, when listeninng the only thing one should take into consideration is the music itself. No comments, recommendations or "explanations" (even from the renown gurus of noise as ourselves) mean anything at that point. Good point. Also, as someone has recently posted in some other thread, it's often hard to tell what's supposed to be good in this musical area. Most important is that you listen to what you like, and you will see your taste will change, or rather, develop, with time. If you stay around here, you will soon know which of our tastes suits you best. Some around here like William Parker... ubu

Now about that one: I have one set which I don't remember whom I planned sending it (not yours brownie, yours will be delivered fairly soon). PLEASE HELP ME! CHAOS HERE! (as if that was new to you all ) ubu That might be me, ubu? Or holding on to it might be your way of whipping me for the now ridiculous delay in getting the copies of those trays to you. ok ok, no, that's not the reason, the reason is I still can't send the other things I promised... PM underway.

Welcome to the board! She toured Europe as well, due to military service I missed her concert in Zurich in late October, or early November.

Oh yes, your royal highness, you did, and it was the inspiration to include the Earl Hines track with Betty Roché on my BFT! Like this album very much, thanks again! glad to hear you like it!
