  1. Hey Michael, congrats on that gig, and enjoy your reunion! And please record it for us poor Europeans To correct my picture painted of Griffin above: I saw a festival concert taped somewhere in Germany (Europa Park festival, I think? Didn't know that even existed), and Griffin looks and plays much better than what I witnessed in my above post. Also I watched that (rather disappointing) tv bit of Roberta Gamabarini's all stars (with Griff, Hargrove and Slide Hampton), and Griff was fine and well-looking there, too - they had a few short backstage shots in there between tunes, and I think once someone other than Griff even pulled a joke that they had to hide the beer from him or something). ubu
  2. Up for subscriptions! And please do post here if you got your set! I'd like to know how many of you have it before I open the discussion (of course I'll wait for .:.impossible's answers threads, first). ubu
  3. Same here, I usually read new comments, too, whenever they are posted! I missed out on two or three so far, and I hope I always sent a mail or PM to explain and apologize, if not, please consider this my apology! -_- ubu
  4. Boosting this up - probably for the last time now! Aw shucks, just drop a PM if interested, even if the discussion has already started. Somehow I'll be able to fix you up with a copy! ubu
  5. So if I said I post from Fidschi or somewhere, am I still in on time? Happy birthday, Jon! Hope you had a good one, and wish you all the best for the year to come! And thanks again for your help with my BFT! ubu
  6. She's nice, but that's about it. She'd kill to have one per cent of Grace's class. Why bother about Oscars if you like good filmmaking... this is about show business, not about films. And hell, Scorsese should have gotten Oscars for "Taxi Driver" and "Mean Streets", and if not for those he should have at least gotten it for "Age of Innocence"... nowadays he seems to go commercial, just as Coppola did two decades ago. Sad that so few american directors and/or actors pull their thing through. Look at Robert Altman for a role model (ok, ok, fire away now...) ubu
  7. Happy Birthday Wes! ubu

Wow, EKE! Those photos are beautiful! On my home computer I can see them, they wouldn't appear at work... ubu
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. In my opinion: yes, very much so! Though I consider Bev and jazz1 (he's not posted for a long time, though) the Westbrook authorities here. ubu
  11. I obviously didn't know that expression... but knowing what "Baedeker" is I got a good laugh... Of course I never meant to say the Brits were the only who did bombings, but that IS the image many Germans now try to set up, even if by just not mentioning their own track record, without actually denying it. Quite sick stuff going on there... But now indeed back to Westbrook!
  12. Hey wait a minute, did the Brits also drop bombs on Exeter during WWII?
  13. sure, it's yours..... , will send it out monday (still have your address) Cheers, Tjobbe Thanks a lot! My offering: Miles Davis: 1964 Concert (Four&More plus My Funny Valentine) For someone who does not plan to get the the "Seven Steps" box... ubu
  14. so this thread boils down to the fact that walmart is communist, or did i get something wrong here? got a good laugh...
  15. "Turner in Uri" is great! I've got a broadcast recording of most of it (I believe the last of 7 parts is incomplete, otherwise it's all there).
  16. Hey, no delays here! You guys are almost working too fast! I guess the European discs will take longer to arrive than the US with you doing the copying so fast!
  17. Thanks! (on both points B-) )
  18. Check with Easy Jet...

Love that cover, too! Oh, and the Jaspar/Thomas quintet RCA disc is very good as well!

I can't see any photos! Big fan of Thomas! "Guitar Groove" is a fantastic disc - all those who're afraid Concord f*§#s Fantasy up, get that one! In addition to great guitar, there's some fantastic J.R. Monterose there, and good piano by unsung Hod O'Brien. Then add Tootie Heath and Teddy Kotick... need I say more? His Jazz in Paris discs are quite good as well, the one that came out first being slightly preferred here. The (great) Sacha Distel hors série Jazz in Paris 2CD set has that photo of Distel, Thomas and Raney, yes? A bunch of great plectrists! ubu
  21. Letov is a great Russian sax and clarinets player, not exclusively a barisax player. Just thought when i saw the thread title I'd have to share one of those cool photos!
  22. Thanks! I guess I'll try and go!
