  1. Isn't there a second sax on those My Favorite Things and Bags' Groove parts? My notes say so, but I can't tell for sure, as it's been some time since I listened to this one. "Out to Lunch" came to my mind, too!
  2. That session is indeed terrific!
  3. they don't call it the big-bang-theory fer nuthin'!

Contrast and compare: Anthony: Toni: http://www.vaisseaux.net/photos/Toni_Braxton_01.jpg You tell me if there's ANY doubt about who's smoother.

Not really, but it sure as hell isn't your father's organ trio, either. Uh, you know, my father (not really, but maybe his father's father's father...) rather had an alphorn trio than an organ trio But still: can I get my money back?
  6. I gave it two full listens over the weekend, plus we had it in the background when friends were over for dinner yesterday (of course they asked who that accordion guy was after three notes of "Ruby My Dear"...). I think this is one of my favourite releases of late! Galliano is a master musician!

Is that Anthony and Toni? I always wondered if Anthony wasn't a bit too smooth. Certainly too few edges there. I don't know if this is fair to Toni, though... Also i wonder, why would parents call their kids almost identically?
  9. Finally picked it up on saturday, and I tellya, this is da shit! A fantastic disc all round! Galliano is really really great - he swings, he's got the blues feeling, he plays ballads that are deeply felt, he can go the lyrical/moody/melodious lane... he can do it all, he's a master! Grenadier & Penn offer solid support and it seems like these three guys enjoyed performing together quite some! This one comes highly recommended! Oh, one more thing to note: he plays the dynamics! The changes in volume on this disc are incredible, and I like that! Too much of today's straightahead jazz is just going on at a loud volume and nothing ever changes, in that respect. This is not the case here, and that is good, for me.
  10. Saturday: the new Richard Galliano disc (fabulous!) and the euro-version of the Golson/Farmer Mosaic!
  11. that will not be enough to uhm... nail Tom
  12. Happy birthday Cary! And many happy returns!
  13. Which one? Nicole Kidman runs off with catesta, punches Tom Cruise in the face before leaving. not that one, no, you just made that up, loser! I meant this one - funny ol' thread!
  14. wasn't there some Nicole Kidman story here, earlier?
  15. more poopy grinning...
  16. No, I'm just running around the house.
  17. Oh no! So glad I saw him at his last gig here... not outstanding, but he had his own way with the trumpet, and that was fun to witness! Will have to spin his Candid album again soon, like that one a lot!
  18. Oh, and I hope you'll like the show! I was a bit disappointed about the 4-star vote, as it's one of my all time favourites!
  19. Thanks Jim! Could you please post your response in the comments to that thread? I pm-ed the guy and promised to check if anyone can help him, as I'm clueless with Macs!
  20. xaclty my thought, but I'm glad I waited for your sly allusion...
  21. at least she pretends she wants to wait for the marriage first...
  22. bird ladies? or ladybirds?
  23. The birds ate her - alife, I must add - just merely a second after this photo was shot... And that missus in the background with the camera shot a movie of it, which was later spread on cell phones (ban cell phones!)...
