The Stuff/Dizzy was part of the (terrific, mind me!) Stuff Smith set, and with Mosaic's (debatable) policy of not releasing sessions more than once, it's quite clear it couldn't be included again. Makes sense to me, as the Smith Mosaic was around until a couple of years ago. Also there was that Smith-Peterson-Gillespie 2CD release which included the Smith/Dizzy date, as well. I am not really sure about this Verve/Phillips set... seems like too much of it has been around on single CDs - in the end I'll be weak and get it and probably love it, but this is not one I'll jump for right now.

I only recently found out about Koenig's film career... it's mentioned in the liners to the 4CD Contemporary Story set, which the 2001 crooks had for a few euro-zlotys, recently. Don't have it at hand, but it's pretty obvious that he was talented there, too, working with William Wyler (swiss origin, btw, swiss name, at least). ***** Is that Gitte CD reissue worth the many $$ it goes for? She's mostly been associated with what's the worst offense to culture them Krauts invented ever since 1945... yuck!

same here for the first name, but (of course due to the german-speaking background), I'm inclined to say Neidlinger with the first syllable as the "i" in "high". That would be the german spelling - the name does sound old-yurpeen anyway, but I really don't know. Or first name "bu-el" (Bu as in Blakey's nickname, without the "iuw"-twist that's in "bew"?)

I forgot to mention that my last two or so orders arrived without me having to pay *any* custom taxes - just tell them to mark it as "educational sample", that will do the trick! The sets I remember going through with this were the O'Day and the Krupa/James, both more expensive than custom allows, with both no problem at all.

Not sure how much I like that one... but Coles quite easily outshines Byrd. Very much a Pearson date, moreso than the "Little Johnny C", which is fine with me, but not Coles' best. The quartet album Chuck mentions above is a great one!
