Yeah, but then too much has been out already and Mosaic never (to my knowledge) was allowed the use of any Impulse material so far.
-
The issue was previously discussed in some Hip-O or specific Getz-Hip-O thread... they included the live version of "Flamingo" (from the Shrine live album) instead of the studio version, which was included on "Stan Getz & The Cool Sounds". To make up, they are offering an MP3 of the studio version on the website (still there, last time I looked).

Have missed the Japanese reissue of "1984"! The "Pep's"... wasn't it originally just one LP and then later on a 2LP set with more? A few cuts of that were added to the GRP disc of "Live at Pep's" and the remainder then reissued as a digipack in the Master Series as Vol. 2? Never quite had a closer look - but the music is among Lateef's finest, and it's always a pleasure to hear Richard Williams play!

Teefski! Sure! I've heard three of his not-yet-on-CD Impulse albums ("1984", "Around the World" and "A Flat, G Flat and C") - would love to see any of those in the new series! The Pep's material is among his very best and has been taken care of on two fine CDs, the okay "The Golden Flute" and the mighty fine "Psychicemotus" (who can remember and correctly spell that title? I sure can, any day, early morning or late night!) have been part of the LPR/Originals series. Somehow I have a hunch these new series would take three (at least) discs to release the three "missing" albums though, they seem to be experts in re-re-re-re-reissuing one album and pair it with (more or less) a rarity.

Y'all know I complained before, so I hand you these . °.¨ : . variably sized grains of salt first Seriously: the man on the street doesn't always want to read all that street-team crap that often says very little about the music but very much about the mind-set of the propaganda folks in charge of selling it... so yes, having some meaningful excerpts would indeed be a fine idea!

There are just 2 bonus tracks (12 & 13) on that album, and both are present on my copy? Mine is missing the two tracks, too, as mentioned earlier in the thread. I have not bothered trying to get a replacement. I'll probably end up tracking down a friend who has a copy of the album with the tracks, and get a BLATANTLY ILLEGAL COPY from him. And it will feel oh-so-good. I'll sing a jaunty little song as I rip the thing. Maybe I'll even tape it. At double speed. I'm sorry about missleading you yesterday - I actually checked it out and you are right, the 2 tracks are missing from the CD. I have no idea how I missed it when I heard that CD for the first time? Mine is an European pressing, perhaps the US pressings have the missing tracks? That post is rather confusing... the US versions have the missing tracks, the Euro versions have the missing tracks... so which ones have the missing tracks? All of them, it seems

A world without Willie Smith? Hell no!!! -
There are a few other threads about Django box sets... and most recently one on the new JSP. Seems all the JSPs together cover almost the entire discography (as do the three Frémeaux boxes that compile the earlier 20 volumes of 2CD sets). As I have the Frémeaux, I can't really answer, but maybe a search for previous thread brings some answers? Here's the most recent thread:

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

Into CD3 by now and mightily impressed with Chu Berry's spots! -
I got my Edmond Hall/James P. Johnson/Sidney de Paris/Vic Dickenson CD set from them - excellent service, though shipping was quite steep, I think.

Lionel Hampton (CD1) -
What's the rap on this one? Got it several months on me and it kept growing - rather syrupy settings, Hawk mostly sticking to themes and embellishments, but hey!
-
probably working towards the foundation of the fifth reich... or wait, we're only at number four?

Bailey solo is to me amongst the very starkest beauty ever to be found in art.
-
"Ballads" - if that doesn't hook you... he's got one of the most beautiful guitar sounds I've ever heard!

So ultimately this thread boils down to "marxism is irony", right?

What's funny is that the 2003 issue (the McMaster one, I stuck to the 1993 Addey version, never did compare them) says that #9 and #14 were previously unissued, when they were on the 1993 version as well: Can't help with your question, don't even know if the 1993 CD is in mono or stereo.

New (Unreleased) Studio + Live Wes Montgomery in March!

Thanks, must have totally missed that when it was posted! -
Some of the Johnny Dyanis for sure - probably "Witchdoctor's Son" and "Song for Biko" first, but they're all fine! Also anything by Walt Dickerson - not sure which one to recommend first, maybe "Peace"? Other favorites: Contemporary Jazz Quartet - Action (2CD) The Vonskis (Never Let Me Go, Lester Leaps In, Dedicated to You) Pierre Dorge's New Jungle Orchestra (I've got the self-titled one, "Brikama" and "Johnny Lives", like them all) Sadik Hakim - Witches, Goblins, etc. Lee Konitz - Jazz à Juan (w/Martial Solal) Jackie McLean - Live at Montmartre Horace Parlan's one with Frank Strozier and Frank Foster and the two by Strozier You might also consider some Buck Hill, Clifford Jordan ("Half Note" maybe? bootleg quality but darn fine music!) Then anything by Ken McIntyre... "Home" with Jaki Byard, "Hindsight" and "Open Horizon" with Kenny Drew, "Chasing the Sun" in a trio setting or "Introducing the Vibrations" with a larger band (incl. Terumasa Hino) And then I've got two fine ones by Ernie Wilkins, "Montreux" and "On the Roll". But hey, this is just the tip of the iceberg... don't really know the Gordon catalogue yet, and don't feel up to recommending any Tete, but there's plenty of Steeplechase Tete recommendations in the Tete thread.

http://www.allmusic.com/album/meditation-r136801 As you can see, the proper spelling is Montoliu (and our own EKE BBB is the expert in all things Tete!)

Good point - I didn't post here because of the singular .... I never could limit myself to only one favourite. You did post (#41) And I bet the original poster has more fun reading lists than not getting any replies because all of us (with the exception of Free for All, though I don't believe him if he doesn't add Blakey and Rosolino ;-)) have the same problem...
