"Duo en noir" is... well, sublime! Really! Wonderful album! Some of the Black Saint box is great, the album with Rudd is mighty fine - but I'd wish for some more there... more, I don't know, freedom to blow, more meat, more... it's still very good and maybe my favorite next to the duo with Ran Blake. I've not heard the one w/Fresu (whom I like quite some, too).

Started reading - very interesting! Even more so as I was involved somewhat in a lengthy article on Pi Recordings.

Don't know much of/about Bartók yet, but Lipatti's version of the third piano concerto (Orchestra of the Südwestdeutsche Rundfunk, cond. Paul Sacher, rec. 1948 in Baden-Baden) is amazing! It can be found on the Lipatti EMI ICON box, which contains plenty of other great recordings (Chopin, Mozart, Bach, Schumann, Grieg, Liszt a.o.).
