  1. Guess I can happily live with the Intégrale and one missing take of "I Can't Give You Anything..." those 3CD sets are great!
  2. Mine's okay too, just had to check! That explains why I thought I was turning crazy when I discovered the wrong cover this morning - thought I'd not noticed that wrong spelling over so many years.
  3. Never noticed it - hilarious!
  4. Depends on how my translation comes across ... That Alice-o-phobic said he had proof or whatever about Alice's doings but didn't have his library at hand - I'm curious about the things he comes up with, if he does. I sometimes do! German music forums are a drag, most of the time ... Proof? The plot thickens! She must have replaced Trane's brain sometime late in 1965 without anyone noticing! (I'm only a member of the german RollingStone forum - that's quite fun, most of the time, but obviously the scope goes way beyond jazz, and those interested in jazz are quite few.)
  5. Shit, never managed to catch him in person. r.i.p.
  6. Fixed r.i.p. Rob Pronk
  7. Too much to read over there, but that one guy conservatifitizes (or whatever) himself, even if he says he doesn't. Glad I'm no member there, I'd turn crazy! Also someone tell them that the Düsseldorf set from the 1960 Miles tour (which in its recent reissue still sounds rather crappy, alas - I had hopes since it does seem legit, that they'd try somewhat harder to locate better, undubbed, un-fake-applaused, tapes) isn't a live performance.
  8. Well, 1957 "Tijuana Moods" might have been his best record, but when it finally came out, it had been overtaken by several others. I bet they got that Mingus quote from the time they decided that - oooooh, this is waaaaaay too advanced for the moronic backward-headed auience, let's keep it in the cupboard for five years first, m'kay?
  9. Went to see Bruce Springsteen tonight - was hesitant for a long while, didn't get tickets, bought some from guys outside of the stadium (it only cost me around... oooh, let me think - about 22 local daily papers, 1-1.5 haircuts, three burgers at the pub - not sure how to depict prices here, but I got in for about 2/3 of the official price which was rather crazy, but I guess that's why all these guys bother to visit Switzerland). Anyway, it was effin' unbelievable! Just plain amazing, over three hours of great, great music! First time I saw him live, and I guess indeed you've got to be there to believe it!
  10. (furthermore, Abbey couldn't sing too well... ducks and runs for cover)
  11. Yes, Murray would have deserved set 2, but then how Federer won it was just amazing!
  12. Indeed! Plenty of amazing tennis. Murray played great - must be frustrating to still lose if you play on that level. But then it was terrific to see that Federer can still keep up with the boys. Most of the time, he looked pretty relaxed and easy, as if he still had plenty of reserves. I'm not much of a sports fan in general, but I find Federer a thrill to watch, his elegance, his technical mastery...
  13. And I still remember how excited I was when I bought it on vinyl... about 13 or 14 years ago, I think! It was like christmas to me, finding it! Might well have been my first original vinyl.
  14. Stereophonic?
  15.
  16. But, no, this was the earlier discussion for the other one
  17. I'll swap Shepherds Pie for Cuckoo Clocks anytime.. Well, me, too - but then I'm quite sure some scot must've invented those silly cuckoo thingies anyway But it seems it was the Germans, after all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuckoo_clock#History
  18. Well, if it helps, consider it as an expanded reissue of that most elusive album, "My Favorite Quintet" Goes for big money, the Mosaic will be a steal by comparison!
  19. What is not included - the rest of the amazing and wonderful European material. Some is out officially (Enja, America/Universal, Revenge/32Jazz), some is on DVD (Jazz Icons), some (I think) remains unissued or spanish-booted. The Amsterdam was on three LPs (a 2LP set and a single one) on the Ulysse label - got those (and the JWS from Monterey as well as the Japanese CD which wasn't any better sounding, I thought, but the music is amazing). But I'm not complaining, on the contrary, I'm overjoyed!
  20. SERIOUSLY NOW!?! WOW!!!!! Time to celebrate, this is great news! Too bad they don't opt for a complete set, though, but I guess that wouldn't be very feasible.
  21. grrrhhhh......I think the Turks or the ancient Egyptians were responsible for the bagpipes... Ah well, sorry for that... single malts easily outweigh all that anyway!
  22. The Rolling Stones (but they will reappear as holograms, I'm afraid)
  23. (but then again the Scots are responsible for bagpipes and haggis, so...)
  24. No way ! Hey, when Sir Bondery wins, you'd lose that victory to the darnded Scots anyway, so what's the point? (Btw, the major loss would be the single malts anyway... and Guinness ain't british... what did you bring to the world anyway? Shepherd's pie, porridge, weird hats, iron ladies... what's the point in all that crap? Okay, I confess that I've had a fine shepherd's pie once or twice...)
