  1. Faust I definitely want, and from what little I've heard, I'm interested in Amandine Beyer and Hélène Schmitt ... the others I all don't know yet.
  2. Okay, I thought with all the thumbs up here, there would be a complete recording ... What's the take on Monica Huggett? I just popped in the first disc as I'm typing this.
  3. Loved it, just ordered the CD. Thanks! Link please? I'm too dumb to find it ... all I see is this one: Or is that l there is? The other result amazon's super-smart tags give me is Midori Seiler's disc of the three partitas (did she do the sonatas, too?)
  4. .. and glad to report that for those who don't want to pay the bootleggers any, the internets is your friend (again) .
  5. And the new owners made it go belly-up even though it officially don't. Different cause, same effect
  6. Pretty good one, I think! There's a few others I'd sell before this, but it's been a while, and the entire run of albums from back then is fine in my ears! Took me a while to find all of them when Fantasy went belly-up ... and I'm still pissed about the missing track on that twofer!
  7. Speaking of suckers no one really asked for .... what the hell is this? at 400+ euro it's not quite a bargain (88 discs) - Karajan 70: the Complete DG Recordings Hm, wait, there's another one that's cheaper: Karajan 1970s Dg Recording - but that one says 82 disc - but then, who cares anyway ... I might go for some cheapo opera box (since most of the ones I've heard were a bit too sporty and a bit of a let-down, no matter what praise they seem to get ... so a cheapo set would make more sense than to keep trying with single releases). But in a box such as this, I've not the slightest interest. Give me K when he's conducting for a soloist such as Christian Ferras or when he's at the helm of the Vienna Mozart opera crew (but then again, I'd take Furtwängler each time, but Legge didn't, alas), but I guess that's about it for me.
  8. evil coffee from Nestlé and tap water
  9. same here (latest version of Opera) if I use the embed icon, it screws things up (or it did when I last attempted), but plain link always seems to work!
  10. Yes, got that one as well - very nice! Also got the ICON (great! My favorite Heifetz, for sure!) and two of the Sony cheapo sets, namely the Great Violin Concertos annd the Beethoven (parts of it are in the Heifetz/Piatgorsky and most - nearly all, I think - of the rest is in the recent sonatas box, which I've not bought ... but it makes more sense to get that one and maybe pass on the Beethoven, I think ...)
  11. Belated best wishes!
  12. Many of them ten inchers ... and most pretty good, some great. There's a long thread about the previous "original Vogue masters" series somewhere on the forums, but posting from the phone I'm not even thinking of looking for it right now. The box is very nicely done ... got it despite having most of what's been reissued "domestically" in the past dozen or so years.
  13. I'll be waiting for more details ... and paying some more attention to Reiner where I have him. Not sure I'll need this one, really. And I definitely don't need the Horowitz. The one monstrous box I regret not having is probably the Heifetz ... but then I've got plenty of what's in it by now, so I'm good.
  14. Another upcoming mammut box - can't find it on any other amazon site yet: http://www.amazon.it/Complete-Chicago-Recordings-Limited-Edition/dp/B00BT70J0Y/ Guess the end of days is approaching fast
  15. Not a problem! Wasn't aware it had gone from the nets - certainly deserves mentioning again! Just thought the older thread might be of interest to some Plus it seems the new set of movies has longer versions of the sung tunes? Have not had time to check it out yet, so...
  16. That's four votes: you, me, Bol and Romualdo... :tup :tup Vocalion have now put out so much of the previously rare Joe Harriott Lansdowne Series material and with much of the earlier stuff also on CD (Proper etc.) such a set - although a fantastic option - has probably now been overtaken by events (sadly). Ditto. What's missing? (though of course the thought is beautiful!) Hum Dono? And that's enough to fill a box? A whole box of 'Hum Dono' plus Tyrone Washington's 'Trainwreck' would get the orders flooding in.. Somebody definitely needs to write a folk ballad about that session. Percy Mayfield's long gone ... and Terry Callier, too, by now. Guess it's too late. But yeah, give us a 4CD box of "Hum Dono" (and three blanks if needed), I'll gladly pay the price
  17. previous thread from when this great film first made its appearance in the internets:
  18. couple other cheapo Fauré boxes around: http://www.amazon.de/Kammermusik-Various/dp/B0040UEIA4/ (no idea how it compares to the Brilliant, got parts of it elsewhere) http://www.amazon.de/S%C3%A4mtl-Kammermusik-mit-Klavier-Capu%C3%A7on/dp/B0057JWUVG/ (got this one, but it's been a while since I gave any of it a spin) and these are very good, I find:
  19. Recently got hold of both the Marge disc ('twas OOP when I bought it a few months ago, now it's re-stocked again!) and the one depicted in the first post of this thread ... both very enjoyable albums!
  20. This one is even cheaper at the UK amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BM9I028/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Strange collection, this one. have you heard any of it?
  21. coming up - no idea who really needs this one though ... http://www.amazon.de/Vladimir-Horowitz-Live-Carnegie-Hall/dp/B00BT70J6S/ Also this one here, already out, wasn't aware of it ... pioneering work, it seems, no idea how well it holds up: http://www.amazon.de/Musik-Alten-St%C3%A4dten-Residenzen-Harnoncourt/dp/B00BM9I028/
  22.     Yes indeed! Nice box, that one! I'm hesitant about needing the Vivarte box, really, but I did cave in now.
  23. Kinda crazy that he's asking more for CD-Rs than for Vinyl! But there0s some good stuff there, Open Sky, too!
  24. Vivarte Collection (60 CD + 250p booklet) for EUR 48,90 on amazon.fr currently I really had no intention to buy this, believe me, but ...
