Yes indeed, on all accounts ... don't know Andrew Gold, but like those two Blue Note albums of Grolnick quite some! The photo (with full annotation) is from here: http://waddywachtelinfo.com/waddywachtelwithlindaronstadt.html

I'm enjoying her early albums quite a lot, but don't really know much after the mid 70s. Sad news indeed. "What's wrong with our bodies?" just started reading - good fun!

Whole batch of Mosaic Selects and Singles running low
king ubu replied to miles65's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Damn, wanted to use a gift card on my Mosaic order but didn't see where the hell I could have entered it ... send them a mail hoping they can still make use of it. Otherwise I'm kinda pissed ... they hand out gift cards but have no place where you can actually enter the number? I see on the card it says I have to order by phone or mail, but how inconvenient is that, I know NSA has my credit card anyway, but still, and doing international calls is still rather expensive in this country ... crap! -
Live recordings you were in attendance

not too many I was at, and save for the Steve Lacy none too great: Wiesendanger/Weber/Ulrich - We Concentrate (Hat Hut) live at Unerhört Festival, Zürich, Nov. 26, 2004 Steve Lacy - November (Intakt) a gorgeous Sunday matinee concert, again part of the fine Unerhört festival, Zürich, November 29, 2003 This solo concert belongs to my most treasured memories ... and as I recently mentioned, I couldn't bring myself to revisit it yet, although I did eventually get the CD. Trio 3 + Irene Schweizer - Berne Concert (Intakt) one title ("R. I. Exchange") is from the Zürich concert - guess what? Part of the Unerhört festival again ... November 24, 2007 I think that's it already ... I've been to plenty of concerts that were recorded by some radio (or in one case, and that was annoying: TV) stations, but only the above have been released (not sure the Lacy is a radio thing, but the WWU certainly is). -

Is that your type of creating "art" or are you serious about that? -
Can't see anything.

All the best, Volkher! Hope you're doing well!

Marcelle, please. But glad I'm not alone liking her Debussy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwR-3ekLu7o

I've got that one ... but haven't really explored it yet. Still don't quite know what to make of Debussy.

I don't care much about hip or not hin in most cases ... but that's a fine disc, nonetheless.

got this OOP one on recommendation on another forum (thanks mikeweil!) and am most happy with it: this one's HIP ... some details here: http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/album.jsp?album_id=255046

there are three ... at least speaking of the "Jazz in Paris" series ... first one: (digipack, 2002 - there might be four if this one was re-pressed in a jewel case edition ... not sure how many JiP discs were, but good chances this was, since Blakey's one of the bigger names in the series) then more recently, the "Collector's Edition", using original covers (and I assume the same remastering, but I never bothered to check): limited digipack edition (four-fold, kind of like the old Verve Elite Edition) and slightly cheaper jewel case version of the same: I guess in the end it really doesn't matter much, which one you get ...

Here's a note from my info (not my note!) on the recording date of the show w/Bley: Recording date unknown. Probably between November 1999 and 24 October 2000. Broadcast on National Public Radio between 24 October 2000 and 7 November 2000 (http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/news.php?id=208). The program was released for broadcast by NPR on 2000-10-24. NPR affiliate stations may broadcast the program anytime during the two weeks after its release. The program is not listed in the discography in Paul Bley's autobiography, Stopping Time (http://www.improvart.com/bley/discography.htm) published in November 1999. However, McPartland mentions having enjoyed reading the book recently during the program. So I think it is safe to conclude that the program was recorded between November 1999 (the date the book was published) and 24 October 2000 (the date that the program was released by National Public Radio).

I'm in but need a few days to send payment.

This thread is kinda depressting ... though I do agree on the stiffness of "As Time Goes By" (that stiffness btw. is shared with the female lead in the film, that hip-stiff clean-cut boring auntie) ... just compare Lauren and Hoagy doing "Am I Blue" if you want proof. Ever been bit by a dead bee?

What live music are you going to see tonight?

yep, totally stopped using iTunes ... the moving of files onto an iPod was indeed pretty fast and convenient, but now that I'm using my smartphone for that purpose and gave away the ipod, there's really no point. I have it all in folders on an external drive and there's so much in there that having categories and jpgs visible on first glance won't help me keep an overview, so I can just as well do it all in windows explorer, move folders manually etc. (But copying to the memory card in the phone is pretty slow.) I guess if I still had an ipod, I wouldn't bother to keep my "library" clean, I'd just purge it, move in what I want to add to the ipod, copy those files and purge the library again. Editing file tags was indeed pretty convenient in older versions of iTunes, but I've got a small programme that works just as well, in some respects even better (iTunes had a very limited amout of words/letters allowed in the comments field). Also what is good about the smartphone is, if you have the cover images and info (usually a small txt-file in my case) in the same folder (and I make it a point to always do that) and copy the entire folder to the phone, you can always access scans and info as well there ... my old iPod wouldn't allow me to access txt-files or even jpgs that weren't in its own "gallery" ... no idea if later versions allow any or all of that, but I thought it sucked.

The one that has never worked for me is "Bass on Top", and it's a bad idea that Ron Carter has taken to ad infinitum since the 70's. Now out of that I can get a good healthy laugh -
dammit! do yourself a favor and get this while you can: http://www.honestjons.com/shop.php?pid=42598

Very sad! Love what she did on "Piano Jazz" and have the highest respect for what she achieved there!
