  1. Well, for Brubeck, this one comes to mind first: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Columbia-Studio-Albums-Collection/dp/B0077PPQGO/ I'm still hoping they'll follow suit with a live box, too! As for Peterson ... his recorded legacy is huge. A few favourites: "At the Stratford Shakespearean Festival", "The Jazz Soul of Oscar Peterson/Affinity", "The London House Sessions", "Mellow Mood", "Tristeza on Piano", "Walking the Line", "Another Day", "Tracks", "Great Connection", "Satch and Josh" (w/Count Basie - there's five of them in total), "Oscar Peterson et Joe Pass à la Salle Pleyel" ...
  2. Thanks! Not quite my turf though (at least not so far). I'd catch them live if they were coming to town though.
  3. Joyeux anniversaire, Guy! Present is on the way
  4. I'll gladly take that one! That is, if paypal from credit card goes alright, it's been a while since I've bought anything from you (if I ever did, not sure at all).
  5. Indeed! I've got some more duplification and triplification between the two and the Gardiner Collection, but these boxes are cheap (and even with duplicates they use much less shelf space than single discs would), so I'm not complaining at all. The Sleeves are a bit on the flimsy side here - as they are in the Baroque box. But the booklet at nearly 200 pages is much bigger (not sure if it's better on substance yet).
  6. Yes - but not too much ... Minkowski with Rameau's "Symphonie Imaginaire", the Gabrieli "Music for San Rocco" disc, Gardiner with Monteverdi's "Vespro della beata vergine" ... not sure that's really all there is. To me, there's more overlap with single releases (Richter's recording ot the St Matthew, Curtis' of "Alcina", the Händel arias by Kozena (not really that great anyway, I think). I'd not need the single discs extracted from other boxes I've already got, either: Mozart piano concertos (Bilson/Gardiner), Beethoven Symphonies (Gardiner), the Victoria disc (that box is still unlistened though) ... other popular releases included are McCreesh's recording of Händel's "Messiah" which I don't yet have ... there are a few other discs I'm not really interested in all that much, but then there are others I very much wanted to get (like the Deller or Otter "Lamenti" ones). The Goldbergs are by Trevor Pinnock (the Baroque box has Roussel, I think?), the Scarlatti Sonatas are by Kirkpatrick (the Baroque has Pinnock, I think) On first sight, it looks great!
  7. What's that? Dicogs images can't be linked ...
  8. Ha, mine's on the way since last week ... hope it arrives today or tomorrow!

  10. Wow, that's a hard one ... really shocked by this news!
  11. I've got "Legrand" and "Communication" (which was reissued as part of the Jazz in Paris series) but haven't heard the Rodges and Shank ones yet. And I think I can deal wiht some of that Columbia stuff, too... Btw, Legrand just made an album with Natalie Dessay ... guess I gotta check out that one soon, too!
  12. Maybe those used in the recent French box?
  13. Ah well ... guess this is the only way Universal sees fit to do anything with their Legrand holdings ... I'd be in for single releases à la "Jazz in Paris", too - but they're not going to happen, so I'll gladly take the more is less box then
  14. That's a gorgeous one ... and yes, since in Europe Universal is distributing what used to be Fantasy material, they maybe could have found a way to sneak it in. It's around as OJCCD though, that's how I've got it: http://www.amazon.fr/After-Rain-Michel-Legrand/dp/B000000YZW/
  15. hardly know his work, but still, sad news
  16. and here's the missing Vol. 34:
  17. Does look nice for sure: But then I've got way too much to be in for this, I guess ... unless that live concert turns out extremely tempting. Can't find any more specific information about it yet though.
  18. Not surprised by these reactions, but for folks who bought the recent Demy/Legrand Intégrale, this might be a perfect companion piece. I'm quite sure I'll get it!
  19. Ha .... if I had any Bud in my house I might indeed accidentally burn it after all the music had been rescued
  20. Just stumbled over this on amazon.fr - 40€ only http://www.amazon.fr/Anthology-coffret-15-Michel-Legrand/dp/B00F570JN6/ Coffret 15 CD + livret 72 pages accompagné de photos rares et inédites. CD 1 : I Love Paris / Legrand in Rio CD 2 : Legrand Jazz / Michel Legrand big band plays Richard Rodgers CD 3 : Hommage à George Gershwin CD 4 : Stan Getz, Communications '72 / Bud Shank plays Michel Legrand CD 5 : Arrangements et chansons originales CD 6 : Michel Legrand chante et s'accompagne / Sérénades du XXème siècle CD 7 : Michel Legrand & Jacques Demy CD 8 : Jazzic in Classic (album inédit, pour harpe et orchestre symphonique) CD 9 : Ouvrages symphoniques CD 10 : Interprètes internationaux CD 11 : Spectacles musicaux CD 12 : Dessins animés CD 13 : Hommage à Alain Delon CD 14 : Michel Legrand & Joseph Losey CD 15 : Films américains Guess this should make a fine companion piece to the Too bad though they didn't include the pretty good "Live at Shelly's Manne-Hole", a 1968 live album with Ray Brown and Manne, and a Verve release, so it would have been available/eligible, I assume.
  21. Yes, me too! Very happy that I was able to get it a few years back! (Got the CD version though)
  22. ... been there plenty o'times and it still hurts our european minds and always will, I'm afraid - huge cultural gap there.
  23. Happy Birthday, Daniel!
