  1. Absolutely right.
  2. The Crown Season Three Excellent. Binge of the year award.
  3. Thanks for the release update. I've had great difficulty finding any coherent new release information on line.
  4. Seven Worlds One Planet BBC Time to trawl the Thesaurus for new superlative adjectives. Gobsmacking photography. The South America programme was especially amazing. I'd certainly put it in the top ten best films ever.
  5. Sorcerer - William Friedkin (1977) Comparisons to the original are almost irrelevant. This is a superbly made thriller of the highest order and Friedkin's third masterpiece. I saw it at the cinema in '77 and raved about it to all and sundry. If you feel jaded with the state of modern cinema, watch this Blu Ray and rejoice.
  6. Danny Collins - Dan Fogelman (2015) and in this too.
  7. Donnie Brasco - Mike Newell (1997) Pacino is great in this.
  8. Yes, it's great. I read the first half in one sitting. If you like her previous books ; Olive Kitteridge, My Name Is Lucy Barton and Anything Is Possible then you'll love it.
  9. The Souvenir - Joanna Hogg (2019)
  10. The Master - Paul Thomas Anderson (2012)
  11. The music is great although the sound quality is all over the place, which is understandable. Worked through all the discs and am now on the final Basie session. The two Basie discs rock relentlessly, it must have been an adrenaline rush to hear them live.
  12. Cutter's Way - Ivan Passer (1981) A haunting classic and a great personal favourite. To Live And Die In LA - William Friedkin (1985)
  13. The Spy Who Came In From The Cold - Martin Ritt (1965) The Good Shepherd - Robert De Niro (2006)
  14. Official Secrets - Gavin Hood (2019)
