  1. Very interesting thread....... Was "circling" around subject CD, but still not done....
  2. This picture is said having been taken during a gig at Ronnie Scott`s in 1970
  3. as there seems to float different versions of these rereleases, could you describe how the cd(=cd-r) looks like btw which indicators made you detecting the cd-r status ?
  4. thanks for the research, this is of course a hefty price tag and even at this level not being sure about the grading (could mean "very good" if checking via a online translation service)....... i wonder if boardmember owning this version of "invitation" could probably help - would really love to hear the bonustracks and the 1990 transfer of all 13 titles .......
  5. Al Haig "Invitation" Japanese CD Release Somethin' Else ‎– TOCJ-5525 from 1990 featuring 5 Bonus Tracks Bonus Tracks as described : http://www.discogs.com/Al-Haig-Trio-Invitation/release/1712336 I`m open to any reasonable suggestion.
  6. Hal Galper`s live outing "Speak with a single Voice", featuring the same players as the great "Reach Out" (also on Enja), is excellent. I thought "Reach Out" was on Steeplechase....and yes, it's a very nice album. My bad - of course you`re right, "Reach out" was a Steeplechase release. Got the recent japanese Reissue - the sound for a live recording to my ears is decent (but never had the LP to compare) - with the original Coverart....compared to the LP there is one additional solo piano track, but another track namely "Children of the Night", having been part of the same titled CD released in 2000 from "Double Time", is missing - could probably a knowledgeable boardmember comment on the 2000 release ?
  7. "Live at The Living Room" (Mercury) 1964
  8. http://www.wikihow.com/Choose-a-Good-Book especially Step 11 is said being of help.....
  9. I believe he had a "viennese" gig billed as Bill Hardman-Junior Cook 5tet in 1987, me believe taking place at "TU Wien"......memories...... I toured with the Bill Hardman/Junior Cook Quintet through Europe in the fall of 1986. We played Jazzland in Vienna October 7-9. The rest of the group was Walter Booker and Leroy Williams. The concert I deem to remember in 1987 had Mickey Tucker on piano and Leroy Williams on drums, just the bassplayer is "escaping my memory"..........
  10. ok, believe i have to stop here....still wondering, how manny interesting books would remain unread based on similar views..... YES
  11. didn`t read any reaction about the content (personal things etc) here until the very moment - the only topic discussed reg the book`s was.......it`s TITLE....
  12. while reading some of the comments reg the forthcoming book`s title or Art Pepper in general I`m wondering, whether the discussion regarding the book`s content (or some of Art Pepper`s recordings) will be as "passionate"......whatever will be, discussions like these for sure are at the same time priceless marketing to up book sales.......
  13. thanx for checking ubu .....vaguely remembered it the same way........
  14. just pn`d you back !!
  15. Great performance "down there" for sure.... so, you saw it ! You lucky, I had other commitments and just made it to catch the last two tunes of Dexter. Too bad I didn´t see Art Pepper. I remember somebody told me that he played a rare "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz" or something like that, for the Austrian audience of course. .. "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz" either already was (just too busy to check) or became thereafter part of his song line-up.....via the intenet you most likely can find the recording of a "Walter Richard Langer" Radio Jazz Show dedicated to this 981 Velden concert........
  16. Not sure about "Jazzland", as I was not a frequent visitor there......retrospectively seen a pity.......
  17. I believe he had a "viennese" gig billed as Bill Hardman-Junior Cook 5tet in 1987, me believe taking place at "TU Wien"......memories......
  18. YES. btw each and every musician creating in his whole career at least one effort comparable to (selected randomly) will always find my appreciation.
  19. didn`t think so ;-) .......just wanted to mention this two recordings.......of course i remember your weak spot for the Haden/Jones duo`s (as my weak spot is firmly in the Haden/Hawes duo`s hands)....
  20. although not being a dedicated Keith Jarrett follower, "Jasmine" actually sounds pretty good to these ears......and regarding Charlie Haden piano duos, for sure more than worth a mention are Charlie Haden/Hampton Hawes "As long there is Music" (Artists House) 1978 Charlie Haden/Denny Zeitlin "Time remembers one Time once" (ECM) 1982
  21. mandatory purchase - another worthy effort from the "best widow in jazz" !! I'll be buying a copy but.......I just wish she could have found a better title for it. there was an ongoing discussion (on her site and via facebook, me believe) about the title - but it`s obviously her view on the lifetime spent with a drug addicted artist and she stayed with it....
