  1. Sister Sadie - a true CLASSIC !
  2. Bill Hardman was part of a 1968 LIVE band (remember there is footage available via the net) , but believe he never recorded with Horace Silver........
  3. A gifted songwriter - RIP
  4. In 1969 the Horace Silver Quintet with the Brecker brothers and Billy Cobham were part of a package with the Muddy Waters Blues Band and a gospel group (Stars of Faith?) which I saw at the Batley (near Leeds) Variety Club, of all places. Couldn't get enough of the Silver band, so followed them to London and saw them at Scott's a couple of days later. Sat right up front for one of the most memorable jazz sessions I've been at. Horace and and Billy really had somethin' goin'! All very different from the studio atmosphere of Blue Note Records. Must have been a great experience for sure......
  5. Just as of now : Horace Silver "Song For My Father" on Austria Classical Music Station Oe1.....it`s telling that the next track played is (same key) Bach`s Präludium........
  6. Thnx for your efforts reg. re-evaluating - so to stay with your,Ubu`s and Peter`s assesments it will neither become part of my "out-list" nor will skyrocket on my "wants-list".......as I do love quality piano trio recordings, there is a chance one day (probably on a dark autumn or winter day.....) it will "land" in my shopping basket though ....
  7. He made repeteadly my heart sing.....RIP
  8. Thnx to all contributors for the feedback so far !!
  9. Thank you for the feedback, actually based on your posting of "Memories" I`ve stumbled over his Steeplechase release......when ever you have a chance listening to it, pls drop a line reg your "refreshed" impressions.....
  10. Any recommendations, (re)views reg this recording would come highly appreciated...
  11. Good story...
