  1. i beleive you should go with the Pro-Ject Carbon and if feasible, invest into an cartridge upgrade (I believe the "standard" Carbon cartridge is OM 10 oder 2M red) so you could substantially improve with a Denon....
  2. I`m in general not too fond of box sets, as freed myself from the completist turkey quite some time ago. But case I do buy some, I would stick to points 1-3 mentioned by "mikeweil" in post #2 and add at least documenting the original cover art individual bonus tracks (aka not multiple alternates from the same track and NO false starts...) transfer quality (if there`s a choice)
  3. Actually I didn`t speak about or compared with Classical Music generally.....but again there are recordings/performances where an individual interpretation is hardly recognizable and the final result in the end is very near note-to-note.......
  4. This may be an interesting project to be pursued in general - but the only usp of the finished product (aka the product to be sold) depends on the question, whether the same music (note-by-note) performed by different artists sounds ....differently ? BTW see no reason, why people should feel frustrated/offended, as there is no obligation to buy this product....and at the same time, this project`s approach is at least not light years away from the one or other classical music production`s....
  5. one of the excellent "late" Bill Hardman outings !!
  6. yes, the japanese King edition of "Destination Out" is truly magnificent....

Was personally never too fond of Mangelsdorff`s playing, nevertheless step by step evolved a sort of soft spot for his 1979 live recording with Arild Andersen (bass) ans Pierre Favre (drums) titled "Triplicity" and released on the Skip label.....

agreed - although sonically not as good as most of the Universal Germany/Austria and japanese MPS titles reissued in the late 90`s me believe "Most Perfect Sound" did a decent job, whereas the new releases licensed by Edel are at least presentationwise another downgrade....and as rightly mentioned, there is number of MPS releases (for example SOLAL !!!!!!!!!) which haven`t seen reissue in ANY of the former series but Edel starts again with stuff having been available before.......somehow sad (at least for the dedicated collector......probably not presenting a target group being of interest ...)
  15. if you still need a "third cd" (remember you were interested in Zeitlin some time ago....) : Live At The Trident [Limited Pressing] Denny Zeitlin http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/SICP-4219 Round Trip [Limited Pressing] Sadao Watanabe http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/SICP-4233

    Bob Berg

seemingly caught him during the same tours, but at different locations (witnessed subject performancs in Vienna) - Berg with Cedar Walton was great (at some point nearly matching the Cilfford Jordan combination I`ve heard prior to that...) and the impressions with Miles were aptly described by yourself and Gheorge in another thread contribution...
  17. Hear, hear. Except the current Japanese Warner jazz discs are garbage. Wow, don't feel that way at all (I don't have any of the European ones, only the Japanese). Hear, hear. Except the current Japanese Warner jazz discs are garbage. probably it`s because english is not my mother language - but could not find IMO in you last statement. otherwise, i believe that this sort of statements is disrespectful towards other thread contributors........and yes, I do remember you`ve stated your (same) point of view already several times.... Oh, I forgot to add IMO and ? (Now listening to MoFi's Bitches Brew SACD hybrid. Now that's a proper re-issue!) you got it.....good job.....
