  1. was contemplating to buy the release too - how did you like subject cd`s sound ? I bought this less than an hour ago. sorry, suspected already a delivered item - if remembering pls post a short comment in the Blue Note SHM-CD later....... Even though I have a pretty decent original stereo vinyl of this (with "ear") I ordered this SHM cd as well. Got my ship notification last week so I imagine it will arrive within the next week or so... I love all the SHM CDs I've bought so far...have about 15 already and they all sound great. Not sure what they tinkered with in the mastering, but these are some of my most "analog" sounding CDs! thnx for the feedback - as just owned this on vinyl, I finally gave in and ordered "No Room For Squares" as couple of day ago...
  2. IMO impressive readings of Symphonies 7+11 by Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and Leif Segerstam (released on BIS)
  3. If being a dedicated follower of an artist, it`s sometimes hard to follow certain turns of the artist`s career - collectors are sometimes endangered to be trapped in a romantistic view.....to me it was priceless to witness some of my "heroes" simply being glad to be served some quality food, raising my awareness they are doing this for living (beneath an artistic merit)...
  4. These two Waldron/McLean album are good. The Victor/JVC was released in 1976. Like this recording from 1976 a lot, great interplay and a supertight Waldron+Suzuki+Higgins rhythm section.....
  5. probably had too high expectations when buying this as new release in the 80s and was left disappointed...the combo with Mal Waldron (IMO) didn`t work here, Herbie Lewis seemed a bit stiff and the production was somehow "punchless"....
  6. To me it`s generally good news that Mosaic is again dealing with "more recent" (as far as late 70`s/early 80`s qualify reg that matter) recordings......for sure interesting, to which extent (if at all) unissued material will be available.....
  7. (IMO) Very good indeed..

  9. Joe Bonner RIP
  10. Regarding Ode To Super, I always felt both McLean and Bartz would have not only deserved, but even more requiered a more challenging Rhythm Section to get things going.....the subject 5tet`s performances IMO are rather subdued.....
  11. Indeed......a good read and a lot of interesting input assembled....
  12. This 70`s outing by Art Pepper featuring his at that time regular rhythm section augments George Cable`s capabilities to a vast extent....
  13. Like this one...
  14. these 1967/68 recordings offer a captivating view on her later Mozart Sonata performances...
  15. "El Mayor" (CD Dragon Records DRCD-207)
